watching the new top gear is like watching a mint classic car being slowly crushed...

Nah, you just gotta accept that it's a completely different entity now. And it's not like the boys are gone...they're just on Amazon. It's basically Fifth Gear now.

Watching the episode now. I'd be willing to bet money that the idea of the "Naughty laps" was the idea of that ginger asshole Chris Evans.

The way he says it too, it's like he wants to give us reasons to hate him.

It was most likely one of the writers.
Or, realizing he was on the precipice of taking his place, Chris Harris told him to do it.

I'm watching episode 4. This time they have both Chris and Rory doing segments on the main show. I realized I'm starting to forget to compare it to the last version and I'm enjoying it a bit more on it's own merit. It kind of feels like they're starting to make it their own.

They're trying a bit hard to make everything a landmark moment. With the Model X - "the future starts right here" - if it started it already happened with the Model S. Anyway, it's getting better.

ive watched three episodes and the first time i broke out a smile and subsequent laughter was in Matt and Ken's stunts around London. This is officially worse than top gear usa, which is pretty awful as it is. after every episode, i had to douse myself with old top gear to come back to the light.

should be matt and harris, everyone else should be fired including sabine, who is clearly a driver and not a presenter and, as the law is in germany, has absolutely no sense of humour.

top gear was at its best when they freestyled it in the studio during news, or SIRPC, or making their foodblender from a v8 or the cool wall.
its over.

Take it with a grain of salt. The Telegraph isn't exactly the most trustworthy website out there.

The blue jeans tucked into the boots look is making me sick. He actually one-upped himself this week with his bell-bottom blue jeans and orange shoes during the Rolls Royce segment.

Yesterday's was the worst yet since the premier. Studio was so obviously flat. Does Evans wear the same thing every week?

And weird that they would bring back TG US for one season (wasn't it off for a few years before this one?) And then cancel it again. Oh well, it wasnt good anyways.

This is the beginning of the end of Top Gear. I dont blame Matt cause Chris Evans is really annoying to watch. I can't imagine how he is on a day to day basis

I guess I'm in the minority cause I quite liked top gear US. They had good chemistry together and obviously it didn't follow the same formula as uk top gear in terms of news, siarpc, featured reviews, etc. but i think what they did is what "The Grand Tour" will probably be. Just an episode long trip/challenge/review of 3 cars.

As for yesterday's uk top gear episode, Matt's film of the Rolls Royce was really good. Evans' review of that british track toy.... I had to fast forward. Couldn't stand him.

Last night was the first time I straight up skipped the star in a reasonably priced car seg. Even with the old ones, even if it was someone I didn't know, Clarkson was interesting enough and they usually had a real conversation.

The new format is boring as all hell and when two people I didn't know were announced, I just said "Nope." and skipped as far as I could. The new format is awful. It's so rigid and boring. Who in the fuck cares about what the audience thinks is better?

And I miss the news. That was my favorite part, really. Just the boys talking shit.

SIARPC was always boring. I skipped it all the time, unless it was an F1 driver.

I'm with Vexor, I liked top gear US.
Faust, Ferrara and wood worked as well together as Clarkson, Hammond and May. Ferrara is hilarious, I had a few laughing out loud moments watching that show.

While I definitely won't miss Chris Evans I can't say I hated the show. Beyond any segment with Evans in it I didn't mind the show. At the end of the day I watch it more for the supercar reviews than the chuckles.

They have to have realized that Harris has done some of the best bits. I'm betting he's going to become prominent on this show. I'd like to see him relax a bit and present exactly like on his YouTube show. I think it'll happen. It's already almost there.
