Watching the finale Extra Gear now, nice segment with them chatting and shooting the shit, obviously not scripted like the 'friendly banter' during the news of the old Top Gear.
Once the get more rapport with each other and better writers, it may have promise.

Yeah, I gotta say I'm glad Evans is out. Something really disingenuous about that guy. And lo and behold, he's being investigated for sexual assault and thinks it's funny to whip his penis out.
But they apparently aren't replacing him. Matt LeBlanc has grown on me, but I still think he's super low energy, like a James May vibe, but the show still needs the Clarkson or Hammond energy to match the quintessential TG car footage.
Maybe let Chris Harris step up?

Eh? It's a former BBC exec, who is friends with Clarkson, and had left the BBC years before JC was fired, and he also admits you can't keep an employee who punches a colleague... misleading jalopnik
I don't understand...
How is physical violence an answer to anything in a corporate environment.
When you "punch" someone, there is no way you'll continue to work for the same company.

It wasn't a dumb mistake it was necessary. It was just unfortunate for the BBC because you can't exactly replace someone like and continue on with the same success.
There wasn't really anything they could do about it...they had to let him go. They didn't really have a choice even though they knew Clarkson could just make another show and more money.

How can you take a cast of three funny Brits and make them even funnier? By adding another Brit, apparently.
Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are set to star in Monday’s episode of “The Late Late Show” with James Corden, Corden announced in a tweet. The trio is still in the U.S. following filming of the first episode of “The Grand Tour.”
Just like they did in “Top Gear,” Clarkson, Hammond and May are squaring off to win something, we’re just not quite sure of what it is yet.
The episode is set to air Monday night stateside, and Wednesday night in the U.K.
This could very well be a preview of what we’ll see when “The Grand Tour” debuts on Amazon Prime later this fall. Personally, we wouldn’t mind seeing Corden on a few episodes of the new motoring show. Considering how funny it was when Corden took on “Top Gear” host Matt LeBlanc in a battle of toy bikes, and considering how funny that was, we hope these pairings happen more often.
