supra mkiv rb26dett swap

WTH...

it's a tyeeimports car, so i question whether it's any good or not based on what other people have posted about that place :(

Eww, why? I image a lot of future headaches for anyone crazy enough to buy that.

BoySupra604 03-20-2014 10:14 PM

I believe Top Secret Japan did that awhile back with a white MKIV. Its different and unique, but theres no replacement for displacement I'll stick with the 3L 2JZ vs the 2.8L RB26.

1exotic 03-20-2014 10:18 PM

It's basically an original non-turbo 5-speed car, and the motor was just replaced with an RB26 instead of 2JZGTE...

4doorVIP 03-20-2014 10:41 PM

no the RB26 replace the 2JZGE
2JZGTE is the turbo model

Its a decent 'upgrade', I wonder which 5spd it is using

"no replacement for displacement", like 2JZ is a 6.0 liter engine... lol

BoostedBB6 03-21-2014 07:07 AM

The only MKIV I have liked with an RB in there is one on Supraforums that is rocking a full AWD drivetrain with it. Would be a hell of a monster with AWD, RB30 block,RB26 head and a monster turbo.

That car they have had for a LONG time now.

shenmecar 03-21-2014 08:17 AM

blasphemy!

thumper 03-21-2014 09:07 AM

this is the actual car:

1993$Toyota$Supra MK4 for Sale | Toyota$Supra MK4 Video Tour | Used JDM Supra MK4 for sale in Canada MK4

http://www.tyeeimports.com/images/supra1%20077.JPG

i can see the caliper covers now :suspicious:

what is going on with those wheels... did they plastidip them or something? they even painted over the castle nut :failed:

keifun 03-21-2014 10:27 AM

maybe its just me, but I don't like cars with mixed brands of motors.

similar to like a FD3S with an RB26/LS/2JZ swap

:heckno:

jpark 03-21-2014 10:47 AM

did they record that with a potato

I've built an rb30/26. It is a monster of a motor better than any 2j I've driven but not an easy build.

SupMKIV 03-21-2014 11:44 AM

tyeeimports sells junk cars...case in point this rb swapped supra :)

Renthal 03-21-2014 03:33 PM

i always wondered about tyee imports.. general consensus is they suck?

rriggi 03-21-2014 03:55 PM

Few things to mention lol, I know the markup on this car, I dont remember the auction grade though.

Either this car was built a long time ago, or it was built recently and it was done by someone who's a cheapass, the RB26 looks like it was pulled from a R32 (maybe an early R33).

N8 03-21-2014 04:16 PM

What a waste of space! And 14K LOL

bloodmack 03-21-2014 05:14 PM

just.. no... way to ruin a MK4 supra man..

I've heard horror stories about them from everyone. Common thing everyone says is that they sell R grade(accident, salvaged, rebuilt) cars and import them over here for cheap and then sell them here for a higher price.

Nicotine 03-21-2014 07:23 PM

the car itself most likely was a labour of love, however like most labours of love it will never mean as much to a potential buyer as it did to the original owner. just like the 1JZ Rx-7 that was at the WCCE meet. i respect the work, and the guy for doing it. but next person that wants to buy it wont feel the same way.

i know nothing of this import company, but it seems most importers get a bad wrap one way or another. So its a crap shoot.

FishTaco 03-21-2014 07:24 PM

this has been for sale for like 2 years...

TouringTeg 03-22-2014 11:24 AM

Didn't know Tyee moved to Courtenay. As mentioned they are well known for bringing in poor grade cars. You get what you pay for.

Poor Veilside rims.
