Did not expect this comparison and certainly not the result considering how much the GTR has accomplished in Motor Trend history. I was definitely one of the many who laughed at the Camaro's $75k USD price tag but putting it into perspective the GTR Track Pack is >$30k USD more.
We could argue that $10-20k on the aftermarket would result in the GTR destroying the Camaro and that the average driver might be faster behind the wheel of the Nissan, but that's mere speculation and doesn't change the fact that one car is going to be more rewarding and involving to drive.
To be honest $75k is an outright bargain as very few cars in that price range are ready to track right out of the box, you're gonna have a bad time if you try flogging around most comparably priced sports cars in stock form at the pace Randy Pobst is going at for an extended period of time.

Why not? It seems fairly well equipped from factory to do that. And it's comparable in price (if not cheaper) than a lot of other track specials like GT3, Exige, etc.
In any case, I'm sure the Z/28 will be a collector's item in the future, and slowly appreciate given enough time.

I think they said production will only be a couple hundred, and yeah the Z/28 is too hardcore not to track. Seems like it would be an awful car to put a lot of street mileage on.
You are being offered your choice of the three cars; what do you take?
I think i'd take the Z/28... Only one with a stick.
yeah it has a manual, but have you ever sat inside the camaro? thing has a fucked up roof line. its even worse than a chrysler 300c or dodge charger for visibility and that interior is god awful.
for me its porsche by a long mile. mostly because of the PDK.
if its just between the gtr or z28, id probably choose the z28 cus i like the hardcore no compromise mentality to its build, but i think that they could've made it better if the stock camaro wasnt so damn big in the first place
Spoiler!
RIP timpo's sanity due to gtr vs z28 results

Yeah i actually would of bought a Camaro if the roof line/visibility hadn't been so bad, and if the interior hadn't been typical chevy blow formed plastic.

Z/28 seems like it would be the most fun and engaging. The other two... no manual, no care. GTR doesn't interest me, and I'd get a Porsche with a stick over the Turbo S.
Being a follower of Motortrend for years, I always wondered if they have a bias towards american branded cars, (Z06, CTS-V, ZR1, etc..). Based on this fact that the Z/28 laps faster than a GTR, wouldn't that make it faster than/on par with cars like the SLS Black, 458 Italia, and GT3 RS, which seems completely ludicrous.

The camaro was rocking very aggressive tires, even more so than both the gtr and turbo s. Given all of them had the same time, I think the camaro would lap last. Posted via RS Mobile
