No 3 rd and Alderbridge accident on April 6, 2014 - 8:40am
 

Hi Revscene,

Any witnesses can recall what happened on No 3 rd and Alderbridge accident on April 6, 2014 - 8:40am?

I was driving my blue corolla xrs. i stopped to turn left waiting for the light to turn from red to green. Fortunately, I had a green light WITH the advance left arrow. While turning left onto alderbridge, the grey (silver) corolla ran the red light.

there was a pedestrian who waited to cross the street because I had the advance green arrow. but she didn't want anything to do with this case.

i asked many places like Memory Express if their camera caught the footage. they tried their very best, but the motion detection skipped the moment of impact.

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Looks like a 50/50

if you had advanced green he ran a solid red it's his fault.

Does this intersection have the red light cameras? Wouldn't the Red light camera catch him if he did run the red??

Good luck with the case. It's a shame that witnesses often "don't want anything to do with this"

Not me Lol. I witnessed an accident exact same place last month pulled over and offered the guy my dash cam recording. I've been too lazy to post it to shitty drivers thread tho lol

Tbh its going to be up to the adjuster and its your story against theirs. Hopefully they can see that he was BSing otherwise they'll just follow the rules of the road policy and you'll either be 100% or 50/50

Iirc intersections with dedicated left turn bays/lights are treated differently from normal lights, as someone pointed out that the other side would still be a red light, thus old Rolla ran a solid red which no one would expect that Rolla would do.

Onus is, you have to prove it was an advance green for you.

This is the exact reason why you have a dash cam. Also unless you get a witness or some sort of video footage looks like you're screwed because its word of mouth vs word of mouth, even if you know you're right it icbc doesn't care. Good luck to you

you're going to have to prove the other party is negligent in this case (eg. prove you had the advance green)

otherwise you're most likely at fault based on balance of probabilities (left turners are generally at fault)

so there wasnt someone behind you that you couldnt flag down as a witness?

Anyone recommend me a dash cam? I want one with a front/back camera

You should have took your phone out and took a picture of this pedestrian and post it on RS. RS will find and harass the person until they come forward as a witness to the accident.

thanks guys, i will get a dash cam asap. i was looking at blackbox, blackvue, or even ebay ones that people are happy with a while back.

im gonna contact city of richmond to see what they can offer me on monday.

if i dont have evidence, i hope icbc will take my word for it that i did try to gather video footage around any shops nearby for 2.5 hrs

did the other driver say he believed he had a green light? wasn't there anyone behind you also waiting to turn left that was "Stuck" behind you, who could have been a witness?

I would leave the witness picture out if possible. It is too blurry to tell who it is, besides you really don't want to have a picture of your car with a speed detector if all possible.

If you offered some money, I'm sure many on here would be your "witness" lol :troll:

On serious note, icbc gonna find some way to shaft you over in this case without witness or footage to prove you didn't do anything wrong. Did the other driver deny they ran the light?

I think you'll have more luck with the banks situated around the area like Scotia Bank and Canadian Western Bank.

Perhaps you can check with Translink and see if there were any buses near that area that witnessed the accident.

New Vicovation Marcus5 is supposedly one of the best dash cams front and back, it's not out yet but soon. Vicovation has been rated as one of the top dash cams.

Don't get blackvue or pittasoft products, terrible company.
