| 1-Week Solo Traveler (but in relationship) Trip Ideas: Late April/Early May?
So I have a week off between jobs the week of April 28 to May 2nd, and am looking for ideas of where I could go on a trip during that time. Unfortunately my significant other is stuck at work at that time, so if I go anywhere it'll have to be solo and somewhere not strictly a party destination.
I was thinking Toronto as a good friend and my brother is out there and I've never been, but I don't know how the weather is like at that time.
Austin might be cool to check out the restaurants and stuff. As is San Francisco.
I know a friend in Los Angeles/Santa Monica but not sure how much there is to see there by there.
I've been wanting to go NY, Montreal or Chicago but I think I'd want to experience that with the girlfriend.
Other suggestions?

Settled on Toronto/Montreal trip to see brother and friends.
SFO hotels were mostly booked up in the major areas.

I would have said New York, its amazing! and one week is a lot of time to do a lot of things.
Toronto and MTL are good choices as well, not much to really see or do in TO, but MTL has a lot. If you are alone, hostelling is best, I would suggest Planet Traveller in Toronto, Nice, clean, free breakfast and best of all, cheap. M in Montreal, nice, clean and cheap. M also has a sister hostel which is similar, both of them have free breakfast. both those hostels have very friendly and knowledgable staffs. Very good and chill environment.

Yeah I can't really think of much I want to do/see in Toronto. In Montreal, Joe Beef and Au Pied de Couchon are my must-go.
Tentatively I have 3 nights in Toronto, 1 night in Ottawa to see friends, and 4 nights in Montreal, planning to take VIA Rail between cities.

I assume you would need a car to get around anyways, especially in Toronto and Montreal.

i did 1 week in NY. I felt that it wasn't long enough. I didn't get to visit/experience stuff on my list. I will have to go back.
I did 5 days in Montreal, and had a blast there. Ya, not much to do in Toronto, unless your a sports fan.

I had similar days at Montreal and New York and I agree.
Make sure when in Montreal go to la banquise for the original Poutine!

Spent 5 days in NYC last year and I had the same feeling of not having enough time to see/do everything I wanted.

Man. We should gather for revscene solo trip somewhere. I find it hard myself to plan trips with my friends as they have the most stupid vacation schedules given to them.
I went to LA last year for a week. I think if you are alone, places with lots of things to see and go to seems better. Unless you just want to sit back and chill at one place.
