Now they got caught.

I think they used to underdeclare the value for the phones when shipping into Canada. Customs caught on and came down hard on them. My guess is that too many people ordering the phones were complaining of the taxes when they received them, causing too many problems - therefore they stopped shipping into Canada.

when I got my phone, there was only like $25 tax on it, so they must've only declared a value of $200 or so. Now with the phone at $350 plus the exchange rate, tax/brokerage will probably be closer to $60/70.

Makes sense though. Hard to OTA from one system to another. Plus isnt CM12 coming out as well. We'll get the OTA for that, but if you flash over to OOS, you should be getting any future OOS OTAs.

I think I'll wait it out for a bit and see what people say about OOS since if I switch over it would be a full wipe.

What's the best way to retain apps and settings for a full wipe, any backup apps?

I just don't like the stock android experience. maybe wait for Hydrogen OS, the more better built rom.
