Which Glock did you get?
One of the cooler glocks I've seen was at the range a few weeks ago. A guy brought this out, and while it looked and sounded familiar, I just couldn't figure out what it was.

Since March 2015 that I started to look for rings and a pistol scope for one of my Dan Wesson revolvers. I managed to trade some rings for a 2" shroud with a fellow DW shooter in the States, bought a pistol scope off eBay that was DOA but I managed to get warrantied from Swift. That process took about 4 months total as I have to use a legal importer for scopes out of the USA even though it was a warranty item as the ITAR laws are convoluted to say the least.
Anyways, I just mounted up the scope complete with the sun shade - that required me to take off the front sight blade.
I'm not sure what the brand of the rings are, the scope is a Swift SRP6266M 2-6 x32mm that cost me $10 to replace and has a lifetime warranty. Swift Premier Pistol Scopes
Looking forward to sighting it in. |

glock 17 may replace my sig p226 combat I haven't been shooting it very well lately.
I'd also take a cz 858 or vz58 over a 1100 norinco, the type 97 is a difference beast I wouldn't mind that

After missing a good deal on a second K31 and an SKS I said screw it and ordered a nice looking non-issued/non-refurbed SKS, figured I may as well jump on that bus while they're still decently cheap and add to the milsurp collection.

Anybody order from Lever Arms before? I'm trying to buy some ammo from them but the site is saying they don't ship to my postal code?

I've been to Lever Arms, never had anything shipped by them. What ammo are you needing from them that you can't find more locally?

They have non-corrosive surplus 7.62x39 that's as cheap as everyone elses corrosive surplus ($0.21/rnd before taxes and shipping). Supposedly Canada Ammo is bringing in a bunch of cheap non-corrosive in a few months but I don't wanna wait that long to try the SKS. I might just shell out for some of the pricier stuff from Bulls Eye for the time being.

You guys and your SKS.
I haven't shot mine in a year. It's clean and ready to go, but there are so many other guns that I like to shoot more.
Funny, because when I bought it I thought it was going to be one of those "do everything" kind of guns.

I doubt it'll see much use, but I'd rather buy one now while they're fairly cheap and have it sit there than not buy one and see the price go up in a few years and think about how I should've got one cheap.
That said I did apply the buy once cry once policy and paid the extra for a non-issued/non-refurbished one.

I have a few SKS in my safes - one I shoot often and another non-refurbished that is still in the Cosmoline; figured I would give one to each of my sons when the time is right seeing as how the LOP is so short on them and the recoil is minimal.
I was reading on CGN that the Lever Arms non-corrosive surplus is a myth. Just buy corrosive, clean your gun when you get home with hot water to clean the salts, oil with G96 and call it a day. I've only ever shot corrosive in mine and it is fine. Take the gun apart a couple of times, you can strip it in under 2 minutes even if you're clumsy, clean it and back together in under ten. I don't even strip mine, I just dump the boiling water down the action and barrel - some of the varnish is turning white. Yeah. I only paid $140 for that one anyways.
Budget Shooting Supplies sells the Romanian surplus that all comes on stripper clips - to give you the true commie feeling while you try to get all tacticool

If you guys ever come across the chinese surplus 5.56, I'm always in the market.
My supply of 1995 vintage ammo is running low, and I would like to replace it.
On a side note, I was on IG today and came across a #narcos page. Fuckin hell, do those guys have crazy guns! https://www.instagram.com/la_gerencia_/
some of their videos are insane, like the lady getting kidnapped at her own wedding.
Mexico: Not even once...

I guess I'm just paranoid, being a "new" gun I want to keep it in good shape since I paid a premium for one in good shape. I ordered a crate of Chinese surplus from Wolverine, it's cheap enough that even if I only use a bit of it and don't like it I won't really care
As for Mexico, pretty sure it's fine there so long as you're not crazy rich or getting mixed up with drugs. If you're rich you should have security people, if you're playing with drugs you're taking a risk already so yolo?

Don't any local shops carry surplus 7.62 cheap enough? You would think shipping would be a killer, plus having to wait for it. I know Henry from Budget, so I just go to his house to pick up my supplies.

It's pretty cheap, but this stuff from Wolverine was super cheap. For Chinese surplus:
Wolverine
1440 rounds $225
Shipping $36.25
Tax $13.06
Total $274.31
$0.19/round
Wholesale Sports
1400 rounds $350
Tax $42
Total $392
$0.28/round
Grouse River
1500 rounds $350
Tax $42
Total $392
$0.26/round
I can never quite sort out shipping in Canada, stuff I expect to be expensive is cheap and stuff I expect to be cheap is expensive. Not to mention Wolverine is shipping me 1400 rounds for the same price another site wanted to ship 100 rounds. Normally I hate waiting, but since I'm waiting for the SKS anyways it's not a big deal.

Waiting on Canpar to show up with your delivery is a pain in the ass, though. Did you check CT or any of the small gun shops in the area?

I swung by WSS since I was in the area but all they had was the corrosive I mentioned and some expensive hunting rounds, I don't really feel like calling a bunch of places just to end up ordering it online anyways. The Kelowna CT has crap all for a gun department, the Westside one is a bit better but at most I'd expect to find the more expensive hunting rounds.

Just curious here, but if one wanted to build an AR from scratch, what parts would you start with?
I'm always seeing AR bits and pieces for sale on the EE, but not sure what would be the first step in building one of these.

Unless you are looking to build an AR for the "experience", I'd recommend just buying a complete AR or completed lower and upper.
I've built an AR completely from scratch before and although it not difficult by any means, the money you are going to spend on just the proper tools may not make the savings that big. Also, you also need to consider the time it will take to source out all the parts you will want for the build. AR lowers, uppers and complete AR are priced quite reasonable nowadays and not just "budget" brands i.e. NEA and Norinco.
However with that said, in the end, I still decided to build my own for the "experience" and just so I can say I built my rifle. If you choose this route, I don't mind lending you some of my tools.
