Decided to mount that Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40mm mildot FFP scope on my AR, it's better suited for bench work I think. https://i.imgur.com/TS7wQhc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Bfbbf0a.jpg |
Picked up the new hardware tonight. A unique calibre only made by Dan Wesson for a few years - .357 SuperMagnum. It was developed by Dan Wesson after shooting one day with the CEO of Ruger, who had just invented the .357 SuperMax, so Dan Wesson made one with 0.15 larger case - a little friendly rivalry. The first run of Rugers were not reliable and the top straps were getting chewed through from the high pressure, so the Dan Wessons were made on their large frames (usually .41 Mag and higher calibre). This .357 is a beast. It can shoot 180g and 200g bullets at 1900fps and ring the gong like no tomorrow at 100 yards. Oh man, I can't wait to unleash this beast. Due to the high pressures and likelihood of blowing out the barrel, the gun was sold with a spare 8" barrel, and the one in my box has never been fired. As I was cleaning it, my wife picked it up and was handling it. Then, for the first time ever, she asked me how much I paid for it? So, I give her the evil shifty eyes and asked her why is she asking me this now for the first time? Her response - 'because I don't ever want you to sell this one'. Yes. https://i.imgur.com/lJo2jms.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aj6JEBZ.jpg |

Mr. Sock Puppet has worked less than a week this year, makes an ass of himself on the global stage, so he felt he needed to 'do something', that is nothing more than a head fake to all those that only want their legal weed. I'm going to go shooting later this week, I need the gunpowder aromatherapy. |
Almost 21,000 emails sent since yesterday. It's quick and easy for anyone to do, let your voices be heard - this is still a democracy. One Clear Voice |
My registration finally showed up so I took my boys to the range and gave this SuperMag our inaugural run. We had a few other rifles and a .22 pistol with us as well, just to mix it up a bit. Spent 5 hours in the Las Vegas desert shooting with some friends. One of them picked up the new Serbu .50 cal with only an 18" barrel - a small beast that is so much fun to shoot. He also had a bucket of phosphourous .50 cal rounds. Checked a few things off the bucket list today. |
man i need to get out shooting, been so long |
Frank at CerakoteBC did another fantastic job with one of my guns. I had a Citadel 1911 coloured to kinda match my AR and it turned out awesome; I highly recommend Frank if you want and Cerakote work done. Colours are: Sniper Green, Crimson Red, and Graphite Black. https://i.imgur.com/D77BOMh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MUgNsLK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1qs6Krg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bVjdeA7.jpg |
Did a 100% disassembly of the Sig P226 lower, fortunately didn't need special tools like the top slide. Haven't cleaned the internals since I got it 3 years ago. So much 'mud' from the grease picking up crud that you normally can't clean with a regular take down. Though it felt like taking apart a watch with the sheer number of parts. I'm a little jealous of the Glock owners. https://i.imgur.com/pDplT2yh.jpg Also spent last weekend zeroing the Eotech, shooting the thing was also the easiest way to verify everything worked as it should. Did a few hundred rounds with no hiccups. Got tiring pretty fast using 5 round Magpul magazines though, so I'm going to go looking for some LAR15 mags instead. https://i.imgur.com/pGa1r9sh.jpg |
I have some LAR mags that need to be messed with because all they do is cause jams. ^ completely stripping a gun is fun but also nervous - hoping you remember how to get it all back together. Good job. |
Thanks! I picked a hell of a pistol to do it on that's for sure. I never factored in ease of maintenance when I bought it a few years back. Fortunately YouTube these days make it fairly clear what part goes where and to avoid common mistakes. |
That's a beautiful 1911 you have there Zed. Damn! |
Managed to get a few pics of my AR and 1911 combo; now that I see them together I am quite happy with the decision to have these customized exactly the way that I envisioned. https://i.imgur.com/BqRfHOG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nJmLTNA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/I2qhTZc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pQQwOqe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cm24T5E.jpg |
looks really good, man |
I went to see a machinist friend of mine today and he made quick work of milling out a few of my mags. Now I have the look I was hoping for when I started the project. https://i.imgur.com/ogLHId9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FmiHOXp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/em8bXvB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lKXzUwb.jpg |

Here ya go, MKIII Hunter for $550. https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...t=ruger+hunter Then phone these guys and buy the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit for a MKII (this model eliminates the mag drop safety). https://www.sylvestresportinggoods.c...d/volquartsen/ And you will have one accurate .22 with a hair trigger and lots of options. I also added Williams Fire Sights to the rear of mine. https://i.imgur.com/ukPSrF2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TuoYLJa.jpg |
Guys - go check out your local Walmart to see if they are liquidating their ammo. Got the heads up on CGN and so I dropped into our little Walmart today to grab the kids a pair of shoes, thought I would check it out and sure enough, all their ammo is below 50% off. Word is they are getting out of that line of business. I picked up 20g slugs for $3 per box and Federal Blue Box 7mm Rem Mag 175g for $19 per box - cheaper than I can reload. Here's the list of what I snagged - which included all that was left of their 12g and 20g target ammo: Winchester 7.5 an 8 shot 20g boxes of 100 were $19 each Remington 20g boxes of slugs were $3 each Remington 20g 4 shot 20g steel shot were $9 each Winchester 7.5 and 8 shot 12g boxes of 25 were $5 each Remington 12g 4 shot steel shot were $15 each Federal Blue Box 7mm RM 175g were $19 each Winchester 7mm RM 150g were $19 each Winchester .410 SS target loads box of 25 were $9 each |
