nice. saves having to pay for the courses again. |
^ Currently, you have 5 years to send that info in after the test. Afterwards, you would need to redo the test. The hobby doesn't need to be expensive - just depends how interested you get into it. |

The great thing about collecting guns is that you buy them once, and chances are they will retain their value, or even go up in value. The problem is ammo. A 10rd mag of 5.56 can range from $3.00 to $5, while a good hunting .223 rd could be upwards of $2/rd. Granted, if you can take down a deer for $2, that's a great deal. There are a few things you can do to mitigate the cost. Number 1 is buy a quality firearm. The fewer issues you have, the better. Jams are embarassing, FTF are dangerous, and gunsmiths can be expensive. Number two, learn how to reload. If you're into shooting for the long term, it's wise to invest in a reloading setup. Some are better than others. For example, my Lee loader that can't hold a setting. Fine for .357 revolver ammo, but not for a highly engineered AR15. |
Sound advice, hypa. The old cliche of: buy once, cry once - applies in this sport/hobby. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to spend a lot of money to have/be the best, as it can apply to paying what you have to in order to get what YOU want. There is exceptional budget equipment in the market, there is also some gear that costs a small fortune but it offers high value. I recently bought a Swarovski scope and now I think I am doomed with never considering anything less quality regarding clear glass. |

Scored big today with thousands of cases given to me of: .357, .223, .45 and 9mm. My son helped me sort every round as they were all mixed up in 10 different boxes, took us three hours. Tumbling some of the 9mm now. https://i.imgur.com/Yw3mtjX.jpg |
really hope i get a chance to grab one of those diemaco uppers before they all disappear. i've found a few stores with stock on them. |
Do you already have your lower to go with the Diemaco upper? Nordic Marksman still has a few of the Cold Canada IUR uppers, I'm really tempted to pick one up before they run out of stock again but i already have a 556 upper. Some of the very few things we can get in Canada that our cousins across the border can't besides Norinco goods. Colt Canada SAS 3rd Gen IUR 15.7" Upper - Nordic Marksman Inc. The C8 upper you're looking at is on sale at Nordic Marksman too for $539 C8 Carbine Upper Assembly - Nordic Marksman Inc. |

will be a fun project, and will reduce the cost impact, spreading the cost over multiple smaller purchases. the only issue with that listing is it doesn't include the bolt carrier group or the charging handle, i've found a couple for not much more that include the BCG and CH |

Just read that they are making a semi-auto AA-12. The full auto has always been on my 'I wish we could have this in Canada' list, so if this ugly brute gets the green light up here, I am getting one for sure; not sure 100% why I need or even like the looks, but I'll have one in my safe. https://www.tactical-life.com/firear...aa-12-shotgun/ |
^ I was introduced to the AA-12 in the Call of Duty games, and fell in love very quickly. Walking around corners and unloading on unsuspecting players was a lot of fun. It's just such a cool concept for a shotgun. Pure handheld destruction! |

It was actually quite painless to do the transfer outside of the 25 minutes on hold. I seem to get the same lady when I call, and she is quite nice to deal with. Hopefully soon! :victory: |
i called at like 1pm, and total call time according to my call log was 9min 45sec lol. the lady i spoke with advised that the rcmp may request proof of membership since its my first restricted purchase, which may delay the process a bit. guess it's time to start looking for a local club lol |
^ Silvercore. You can join online, appeases the BC CFO for range membership |
i think i'm going to join the poco range. that way i have access to a rifle range. |
there we go, job done. got my membership for poco :D gotta wait for july 8th for the next new member orientation. |
Anyone gone through Project Mapleseed? They're in my area in August and I'm debating using a loaner 10/22 or try and qualify with my AR, I should have enough ammo for the course. https://mapleseedrifleman.com/events |
that actually seems kinda interesting.. might give it a try with my STG44 :D hmm, looking at it... they expect .22LR to shoot accurately at 500yd? :s |
Spent Father's Day morning at the range with my sons. :) |
