Pretty good way to spend some father's day time together. Quote:

It's a fun necessity that we have to deal with as restricted owners. Quote:

A bolt action would still be the best way to shoot long distances.
I know my 10/22, which has been heavily massaged, couldn't hit 300 yards consistantly.
I like the idea of the clean 500 yard rimfire shot. But I'm thinking a .17HMR or a .22 Magnum might be a better choice. Still rimfire, but with a little more punch and stability.

hmm, looking at it... they expect .22LR to shoot accurately at 500yd? :s | I believe you actually only shoot at 25 meters (82 feet) but with reduced sized targets to simulate full size targets at 400 yards. I downloaded and took a look at a few of the printable targets. I believe the end goal is to be able to shot 4 MOA in various positions.

that's a little more reasonable than expecting to sling .22LR out to 4-500m lol.
the sights on the STG are a little wonky, and i need to set them 10m or so higher than i'm shooting to get it on target lol

The new licence gets issued on your first Restricted purchase now if you have not had an LTATT prior in BC, as those conditions are now a part of your licence.

Ahh OK. I wish they explained that.. I just got 2 envelopes. One saying I can go pick up the firearm, and the other had a new license.

My dad taught me to shoot, like his father taught him. The allies taught my grandfather to shoot, but I digress.... I guess you could say that hunting is a way of life for me and my family, not unlike the native people's. Then why the fuck is it so hard to get draws?!
Between the guided companies, the naturists, and the natives, it's been virtually impossible to hunt anything bigger than a grouse for the last few seasons.

Haven't been in this thread for a while.
My dad had come over to my place to help me bring in a new gun locker and while in the elevator an old lady asked what it was. Told her and instantly she said "oh no you don't" and then stayed quiet until she got off on her floor. I double checked my strata bylaws and theres nothing about storing firearms etc. The closest thing to it would be storing hazardous material in or about the strata lot. Bleach is a hazardous material... Anything with an MSDS sheet can be hazardous. Should I be worrying about the old broad complaining to the strata about it?
While I'm here, is the shooting range in langley decent? I haven't had time to check it out and would like to join a range.

Finally managed to slip out to the range yesterday morning to sight in my Swarovski. That Z5 is such a nice piece of glass - I can never accept anything less moving forth. I was getting sub-moa groups at 200, I was stoked, called my hunting partner today and found out he is getting back surgery and may not be able to hunt this season. FFS.

I'm a shooter - very casual, borderline collector.
I have a 10/22, 88 Mav, Brno SXS, Marlin 22, S&W 5906 9mm, Mosquito 22, Norinco 45.
I had an SKS and now realize how much I hate them.
Just got my hunting license last year, so looking for a couple of hunting rifles next.
To buy:
45/70
something in 300
something in 200
Would love a safari big bore SXS as well

^ you like the big bores, eh? Have you shot many? They come with a thump, hunting in BC doesn't require a 300 WIN, but if you can shoulder it, then why not? My preferred calibre is 7mm Rem Mag, so very close. The 45/70 is a novelty bush gun calibre - your 300 WIN will be a better calibre all around.

It seems easy to spiral down the collection rabbit hole, especially since older milsurps aren't likely to have stashes left to hit the market anymore so prices will only go up. There are lots that I want to get but I'm limiting myself to the stuff I already have for now. Quite a few I think I'd be satisfied just getting to try out for a day but I don't think there's anywhere you can do that with old stuff.

Any recommendations on a rifle scope? Around $600 taxes in hopefully?
On my 7mm I still have the Bushnell elite that I got when I bought the gun about 12 years ago. Looking for a glass upgrade. Don’t even know what size I should look into etc
