Hey guys, what are the regulations for taking my non banned firearms into the bush for skeet or target shooting? Is it legal, are there regulations for doing it. Where would I find them?

you can only take non-restricted out in the bush.

there are areas that are designated as "no shooting" areas. there is a govt website that lists them i believe.

and i think in most cases you have to be outside city limits and more than 400m from a public road. i don't remember if this includes FSR's, but i imagine it does.

Completely expected but nothing but a nightmare ordering my 725 Field from Cabelas/Bass Pro

To start, i could not enter my Bass pro gift cards on the cabelas.ca website, finally once i got through on the phone they informed me the cabelas website is not built to accept the GC's even though its the only canadian site for both stores.

So i attempt to make my purchase over the phone, this involves reading the 15 digit code, plus 4 digit pin of TWENTY FOUR gift cards i had..

finally get that done, woman takes my credit card info for the balance.

Wait 3 days, no confirmation, no email, no charge. Phone in and spend 2 hours on the phone over 2 days until i finally reach the order tracking. Give them the order number and he tells me the gun is on back order and "we might be getting 10 in the next few weeks"

So i ask.. so is my order going to be processed? do i have to resubmit it? etc.

His responses were hardly comforting and i essentially have no idea when the gun may be shipped..

Nope banned means banned

Includes transport and using banned guns

"Starting today, licensed gun owners will no longer be allowed to sell, transport, import or use these sorts of weapons in this country."

So in typical, expected, fashion my credit card was charged by cabelas with zero follow up, no tracking number, no shipping info etc.

Canada post attempted to deliver, left the note on the door, gun left at the post office :/

So went and got it today, luckily everything worked out fine and the gun is free of damage and it’s beautiful but there’s no way I’d order a gun through them again due to all these headaches.

Pics to follow, was barely able to assemble it today as I tweaked by back

Some pics, build quality is top notch and the mechanisms and break are amazingly tightly milled very happy, cant wait to shoot it

I'm pretty excited right now, bought a Girsan mc28 pistol online for a may long weekend sale and it arrives today. It's my first restricted firearm and can't wait to get home and open up the box.

yeha, the 725 is legit and it'll last you forever.

As long as it doesn't fall under the canadian 20 mm bore you're good to go.

So I'm pretty happy right now, I entered an online sticker draw on FB to win a CZ Shadow 2 in blue which is optics ready and I actually won it. Hopefully our CFO approves it fairly quick, I cant wait to get my hands on it and take it to a range.

My question is what optics do you think I should get for it?

Wow, congrats, that's a fine gun. I like RMRs but optics is a lot of personal preference - go to a local shop if possible to try which one works better with your eyes!

I don't own a 9mm, but I have seriously considered that Shadow 2 a few times now. Shoot the hell out of it, it is a great pistol.

Finished my course today for restricted and unrestricted firearms. Always wanted to do it just because, but when a friend asked if I wanted to join him it was enough to seal the deal.

Just need them to approve my shady history

This is it, it's that time of year again. Waking up early and heading out to 7-16 for two weeks of hunting with a good group of gents. Peace and quiet for 2 weeks, completely unplugged - I look forward to it all year, every year.

People don't understand it's not like in the movies where u just drive and get off ur car and shoot. It takes patience, silence, persistence and lots of waiting.

You can go with a realtor and have his cell phone ringing all the time. A lot of freaking isolation. Now if you're doing fowl hunting.. totally diff story.

Wish I was going..may try in a few weeks for a buck.

Where we usually go north of Kamloops has still been too warm and a friend was up there 10 days ago or so and saw almost nothing. Also have to work for opening day

Just got back, weather was warm at the start and then started to cool down, which got the animals moving. Came back with black bear and moose, now I get to spend the next several days cleaning gear and cutting meat.

Any of y'all know any legal Crown land spots? I hear Hope is good for it. I used to go up Stave Lake about 20 KM off road. I think a lot of that area got shut down. My old spot was legal from what I can interpret, but I don't want to risk arguing with some RCMP officer who may not know that (been there...).

Have you all been following how once again, there were no public respondents to the Fed's request for a company to manage their proposed gun buy-back? This is going to be a shit-show. The Fraser Institute is estimating this will cost $3B - money better spent on gang enforcement. If only people would stop doing drugs, eh.

Has everyone stopped buying any new firearms since the announcement to avoid risk of it suddenly also being banned? I'm still figuring out what to do with all my 556 and 223 ammo I guess I'll have to buy a Tavor or Type 97 or something, I doubt they'd buy back ammo too? Who knows, sigh.
