Next up was to test fit the new tank.. when the bike had been down previously, it looks like the bodyshop had used compressed air to blow out the dent in the tank (normal practice) but they bowed the tank on the bottom meaning that it sat a little higher than it should of (rested slightly on the air box).

Not a problem anymore though with a BRAND NEW tank! Unfortunately, I forgot to order the tank bracket, bolts, flanges, etc., for this tank so I ordered those today. I also ordered a new fuel tank seal and gas cap seal just in case. Hopefully I can get the tank on the new fuel pump installed later this week.

Here is a quick test fit with the new tank and heat pads installed ... fits perfectly! :)

-install front cowel
-install new windsheild

I thought I was buying a single bulb kit but actually bought the dual kit. I went 5000k as it appeared closest to what I am used to with my Range. I guess I will find out.

I'm just dying to work on it ... between work and my training, I never have time... :( I have to book times weeks in advance lol.

So I bought the H7/H9 dual kit... basically the process is to install the new bulbs, plug the power that would have otherwise gone directly to the bulb into a new harness. This harness routes the power to the ballast and then back to the new HID bulb. Naturally, all of the power cables, harness and ballast cannot fit within the weather-sealed headlight dustcap. My Dad and I went to work and we drilled a 1" hole into the lower outer corner of each dustcap. That way the cable would run away from the headlight assembly and congested front of the bike and down behind the fairings where I will have more space to mount the ballasts.

The quality of the kit was exceptional and I am very happy with the price.

The kit also includes a weather proof grommet that slots into the hole that you are required to drill into the dustcap. The entire package feels OEM quality.

Here is the back of the nose as I am removing the rear bulbs. The left in the picture is the H7 and the right is the H9.

This is with the new bulbs installed. Note, you can see the plastic grommets that will eventually plug the new 1" holes that were drilled into the dustcaps.

In this shot you can see the new H11 HID bulb (replacement for the factory H9) secured into place (they provide some additional seals and rubber pieces to ensure proper fit and weather sealing. You can also see the factory power plugged into the extraction harness that will route the power back out of the headlight assembly through the dustcap grommet.

The assembly was EXTREMELY tight and the dustcap wouldn't fit back on as there was not enough clearance. I decided to see how much the plastic would compress if I began screwing the dustcap back on and to my surprise it screwed back into place perfectly ... just required a little bit of pressure.

Here is a shot with the dustcap back on and the grommet in place. Now with the headlights installed I can officially mount the nose back onto the bike permanently.

The OEM Triumph fender is $330 through any Triumph dealers... HOWEVER ... A company called Bestem makes a FANTASTIC quality product (I have some of their other stuff)... they do a 100% CF one for $230 CDN (06-13 Triumph Daytona 675 Bestem Carbon Fiber Front Fender 100% : Bayside Performance) arguably a better finish and more durable.

Update : more parts arrived! Yay!!!

When I bought the new body it didn't include a windshield so I had to buy a new one. I like the aggressive factory slope so I went with the Zero Gravity SR. Clear is too BLAH and black is too common so I went with smoked.

...my first Bestem Carbon Fibre parts ... dash infills and chain guard. :)

GREAT quality ... MUCH better than I expected a fantastic UV clearcoat finish.

..and finally... my new Woodcraft STATOR cover... FANTASTIC finish. I had Woodcraft parts on my CBR600RR and loved them. The crash plate (red) is detachable and can be interchanged with other plates. The OEM stator cover on the bike appears to have been damaged once and was painted to cover it up. This was a great replacement option. :)

It's coming along... today I actually ordered a few extra parts! It sucks not to be riding but with a new job, marathon training and being in the process of buying a new house I probably wouldn't have a lot of time to be out yet anyways.

Today I ordered a Woodcraft Ignition cover, a Bestem CF sprocket cover and a CF cowl air intake surround. The factory ignition cover has some ugly marks on it that were bothering me and the factory sprocket cover (plastic) has overspray from when a bodyshop appears to have once sprayed the stator cover. Since the stator cover is being replaced with a Woodcraft piece it made sense to replace it too (and it's CF!)...

On the week I found some time to install the a new fuel pump in the new tank and finally bolt the new tank to the frame.

...but first, the new Lightech racing fuel cap. Racing = NO KEY... obviously, this is stupid for a street bike but I am willing to take my chances, especially when I added up the cost of getting a new core from Triumph, a new OEM gas cap, etc. Plus I really like how this looks and operates.

The first picture is of the new OEM seal. The second is the fuel cap installed.

Next up was the tank bracket... the bracket bolts onto the underside of the front of the tank and then bolts onto the frame at the front of the bike. I completely assumed that this was a part of the tank from an ordering perspective and was hugely annoyed when the tank arrived and the bracket wasn't there. I had to go back and order a new one ... and of course it was comprised of multiple pieces.
