The TSX never really competed against the luxury German sedans - it's cohort was more like the Jetta GLI and the A4 with the 1.8L turbo. The 3 series were out of their league (and much more expensive anyways). The 2007 I drove was $37K all in back in the day so pre-tax it was probably $32K, basically Accord V6 or Mazdaspeed 6 money. The TL played in the 3 series' league and was priced closer to that. The TSX sat in the same space as a CSX and ILX in the model lineup so today's equivalent is the CLA.

It's a "fun enough" kinda car - you need a reliable DD that's nicer than a Camry/Altima and you can't stand the soul sucking side of a Camry.

I’ve only ever driven an E30 and E36. But it just felt like a big car for
Me. I think I missed on the biggest positive of all. Honda reliability. Really, why else does one go Japanese?

I met this guy at a hockey tournament last year. Really nice fellow, and was genuinely impressed that I knew what his car actually was. It was obvious that he took great care of the car. Depending on your negotiation skills, this car could be the find of the year.

63' wagons are performance bargains and probably the best all rounder compared to similarly priced performance cars.

90% of R35 GTR performance... in a sleeper body style... (that can haul people, a mattress, mountain bikes and more)

Also on the to buy list if I won the lottery. Ring up my home boy at Benz and buy one right away!

This got me thinking, with gas prices being record high in the GVA and in BC general, how long until people start offloading their higher performance vehicles due to fuel costs?

^ I have been following the Porsche market closely for 996 Turbo and 997 S lately. I have seen ads saying they are switching to Tesla. The owner of a 997 S I drove also admitted he was going to get a Model 3. Just a small sample but the switch to electric is starting. Maybe time for a new thread.

It's like a great time to get a Tesla Model 3. $5000 federal rebate and $5000 provincial rebate, $10k off instantly. Too bad you can't stack with Scrap it program or another $6000 off.

Gonna hit dealerships hard too. I chose the Accord over a TLX because I can fill it with regular and that was a few years ago now. I’d imagine many people on a budget aren’t considering a car that takes premium fuel currently.

eruhhh, i dont think guys who can afford 120k+ cars really worry about gas mileage. Even on the used market, 996 turbos are going for 50k+... maybe those guys are a bit worried (maybe). Most of these guys have multiple cars, so they can easily have a beater/econo car that can do daily duties.

^ even if you do care about fuel economy, i dont think too many people are buying used high end sports cars as dailies. repair, maintenance and depreciation would eclipse fuel on a 911 if you were driving one of those on a regular.

I doubt it’s the fuel economy. The performance alone brings a different crowd.

The regular vs premium is a moot argument. Cars are my passion and I’d gladly pay for premium for my life long hobby and enjoyment

i'm thinking more of the now affordable V8/v10 that can be had for 15k, even if you get a well sorted M5 things like fuel/tires can add up quick

wait people don't daily their M5? a 4-door car is saved for the weekends & track?

even a good chunk of members here would struggle to find a second parking spot, so the days of owning 3-4 cars between a couple or household are diminishing even amongst enthusiasts...many have started to look into e-bikes/scooters

heck, even brand new platforms are quite awful on fuel econ...thinking of tacoma/rdx

with force induction and hi-compression there's more and more brand new vehicles requiring premium

I guess some people do care. Like that batshit crazy lady with the Aston Martin who then only buys basic car insurance. Or those dumb ass fobs in richmond who fill up their ferrari with regular gas. Or my dumb shit friend who thought he could change the R8 clutch himself because "savings" and ended up fucking over his own car and having to tow it to the dealership to do a proper repair.

im sure there are turbo porsche owners who are cheap as hell, but i think those are few and far between. Plus some of those v8's and turbos are pretty damn good on gas. Im looking at you corvette in 6/7th gear.

has to be best of both worlds to have a little gas sipper car and a fun car though.
now Tesla is in the game with more supercharge stations popping up its only getting better to own one inside the city.

depending on the option you choose, supercharge stations are free for life or you pay for an account with Tesla your car/suv

the reliability of them is shit driving normal, let alone stomping that gas on track days what people rarely do,its pay to play with ferrari..
lot of mainlanders use to buy them in Vancouver and get into the Ferrari repair shop and the shop would look at the service record...something retarded like 40,000 km,50,000km without an oil change...voided all warranty after that since they weren't given the proper care.
