Only since the 00's has pop culture attention shifted to what we hear about now.
Brands like BMW, Volvo, MB etc were all too foreign and obscure to even consider. Parts and servicing were a hassle away from major cities, so the market was terribly small.
Heck, in the early 00's when I met my GF who was raised on a farm in Sask. I mentioned my BMW and she gave me this look like "wtf is that supposed to mean?". Then I mentioned BMW to her father and he was like "who makes that? is that a Ford product?"

Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus were are all popular in rap/hip-hop culture in the '90s (Tupac - 500SL, Notorious BIG - M3, Jay-Z - Lexus LS, etc.)
I wouldn't consider rural Saskatchewan cutting edge when it comes to pop culture.

You’re thinking too much in today’s terms tho... it wasn’t ridiculous back then. Bentley’s were pieces of shit back then by today’s standard too, same as the Chrysler.
Expensive pieces of shit, out a POS nonetheless.
1979 Bentley Corniche is not more luxurious than the New Yorker despite costing 10 times as much originally... and way way way less reliable. Just more exclusive I suppose.... maybe a tad more pinache/elegance. https://m.classic-trader.com/uk/cars...he/1979/158383 |

If I were thinking in today’s terms I would have said it was a colossal stretch.. I didn’t think we were talking reliability, just the ”posh” image. Anyway, moving on.

| VW and Volvo were certainly around. There were VW bugs everywhere, and the 240dl did well enough.
Can't say Volvo parts were hard to get since they made the actual cars in Halifax.
Also when the Rabbit arrived in the late 70's it did quite well.[

Current bid is @ $8,000, but the auction doesn't end until like Friday evening | 8k is already high for a rebuilt with motegis. By the time you got it into reasonable condition you'd be close to the price of a legit type r and is still a rebuild

The cheapest one always ends up being the most expensive.

hmm i've seen that car around before....
surprised to see it up for grabs. looks relatively stock besides the rims.
remove the race tach, put some jdm 16" on it and you have your self a nice tire slaying track beater.
seeing a stock header and stock air box/ arm.... is nice. looks like this one has factory ac too!

If VPD owned it a friend suggested it may have been a bait car.
Speaking of cheapest on the market 996 turbo now down to $45k https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds...892597399.html

^ ugh if that’s the case the wiring is going to be a mess on that Type-R with the remote ignition kill stuff and cameras and other things installed as part of this program. To say when police decommission cars of this type that they “cut corners” cost-wise would be the understatement of the year.

really have to check the car out in person.
can source a used wiring harness if required, as there is still quite an ITR community left in North America (fortunately)
dash, interior trim besides the door panel inserts are same as standard black integra pieces... so can be replaced easily.
fortunately i think I see the factory floor mats still in this car...
its worth saving (if it was offered at half the price)
