Pricing getting soft... wonder if real ad.

I know nothing about STIs. Is that a good price?

Traum 05-21-2019 08:49 PM

IIRC, 2004 is the least desirable model year for the STI, and there are some technical reasons behind it too. But I am not Subie guru enough to really know the intimate details.

There is zero chance that ad is real

Price is absurd and the seller is in Nova Scotia for starters... lol

underscore 05-22-2019 10:16 AM

If it is real I assume the price is supposed to be $99,750

2005 Honda S2000 (AP2) Suzaka Blue with blue interior.
- 59,800km
- US car
- $23,500

Either they don't know the (stupid crazy) market of these in Vancouver, or it's a fake ad.

Steep price for a 91 Miata, but damn would this car be fun

twitchyzero 05-23-2019 11:40 PM

done properly too, not a no-name chop shop

personally i think it goes against the whole point of a light & slow car fast but hell im sure it's an absolute riot

snowfarmer 05-24-2019 06:41 AM

If you bring your NA Miata to Flyin' Miata, the price to put that kit in it is USD$55K, that Miata is a great deal. It was listed for $24K earlier this spring.

55k USD to put in a ls? That sounds way too high? People have been slamming LS into Miatas and E30's for under 10k since the Jurassic period when the T-rex roamed the earth.

5 times the cost? Are they using new crate motors or something?

lowside67 05-24-2019 07:34 AM

https://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/turnkey.php

I cannot even that some retard would pay them $55k + car.

Literally a C6Z06 would destroy this Miata in absolutely every conceivable way on the track and strip for 2/3 the price.

trollface 05-24-2019 07:54 AM

Right, so it does NOT cost 55k USD to drop a LS into a NA maita.

Is it possible to drop an LS into an NA Miata for less than USD$55K, yes.

Does it cost USD$55K to have Flyin' Miata install an LS in an NA Miata, YES. The Flyin' Miata build is way more than just an LS motor, transmission and rear end (see list below), yes they're using new crate motors. I totally get it that one can pull an aluminum block LS motor from a junkyard and put together a V8 swap for super cheap:
https://oppositelock.kinja.com/speed...und-1125469009

I guess there are enough people out there without the time or mechanical ability to do a V8 swap, and that's where FM comes in. The other thing you're guaranteed to get with their work is the knowledge that everything works as it should. Yes $55K USD is spendy but if one was considering doing that, why not pick up this car for 1/3 the price? One could buy their own Miata and drop an LS in and do all the mods that are on this one and maybe be in it for less than $20K, an LS3 crate engine alone costs $8K.

That pricelist is for a 2016 Miata? Not NA.

"We are now exclusively using the 2016+ cars as the basis for turn-key cars."

Who is dropping 55k usd to put a V8 in a 1990 Miata worth 3k.

Balrog 05-24-2019 02:24 PM

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/nvn...888530389.html

A 3 seats car, fun but the parts are super hard to find.

underscore 05-24-2019 02:35 PM

The other downside to paying that much to put an LS into a Miata is if you go to sell it you realize you've lost most of your money and now you're selling to a tiny market. A Miata or Corvette on its own has a huge resale market, but very few of the people who like those would want this.

I'd also be curious what you can even use that car for. It's light with lots of power and small tires which seems great for burnouts but not much else.
