The W211 is definitely solid and a beast of a car, but the maintenance is only part of the reason why i didn't choose that generation. I decided to go with the w210 is because I grew up being driven in one, and I really love the classic and boxy design. It was one of the cars that I wanted to own.
Really dig your stable of cars though knight604, good taste |

Early gen w211 is was probrably the least reliable of that era. Air matic, sbc, panoramic roof. It was the first of the modern era electronics. There were massive improvements in the 07+ updates.

I couldn't justify buying an e63 as the brake job alone in parts is 2.2k USD for OEM.

There were massive improvements in the 07+ updates. | AMG made lots of E63s from 2007-2009. True, they are the car to have on a track, I even think that Car & Driver preferred the E63 to the M5 e60 overall.
However - airmatic problems etc. are easy to fix. Head bolts and camshafts problems are not easy and cheap to fix on the 63 cars. If you want the 63 you should get a warranty.
I love the the way the w211 E55 is setup, it's not a harsh riding cornering weapon, but rather a smooth highway cruiser.

There's a saying that I first heard over on Rennlist when I had my Porsche 944 over 13 years ago, when it comes to buying one...
"There's nothing more expensive than a cheap Porsche."
The same goes with Benz. Ask me how I know.

Low KM and not a rebuild. Could be worth checking out at this price. (An immaculate 325ci was just sold on RS with low KM and same price as a comparison). Check for service records.

There was no 325i in 2007, that car is a 2006. Also he says not a rebuild but it might have several accidents.

leather? isn't that leatherette?
also, seller lists mileage as both 130k and 154k kms...
i wonder if it is an out of province car, or maybe US import?

| IF it even went to ICBC. Seller would have to clarify.
Plus, it's a B20, not B18C5.
Could still be a decent deal but a thorough inspection and history check would be in order.

Really want that ITR but my money is tied up with my Evo 6.
EDIT: saw that they put in a B20 engine, now why would they do that. Anyone know what's the cost to put in a proper B18 engine?

Fuck. I'm very attached to my Civic but I truly do want an ITR, and with that history I wouldn't feel bad about it being a heavily used daily. The B20 is a better motor than the B18C5 in many ways too...... A part of the greatness of the ITR is the 8k+ redline though, I would need to have a proper engine re-installed (b18c5 or k20a) and after that it would be in the price range of a way better sorted car Quote:

That CW ITR is pretty nice. If it did have a previous roll over I'm wondering if it is E-40six's old ITR. Might explain the B20 as he had a built B18C5 in there before. You would be basically buying a shell though so the price may be a tad high. Either way, it's a decent starting point.

Either way, it's a decent starting point. | how bad was the rollover? from the limited description it sounds like it was repaired privately and did not go through icbc. was it frankensteined back together using salvage parts from another teg? from the pics it looks like the right side is the worst from the misalignment of the rear bumper to the 1/4 panel and the cosmetics of the front right side... i'm from the camp that says hondas are never the same after major crash and repaired
[EDIT] is this it? http://www.revscene.net/forums/56032...hip-white.html

[EDIT] is this it? http://www.revscene.net/forums/56032...hip-white.html | I`m thinking that is the one. I don`t recall the severity of the roll over though. It happened in the early 2000`s so the cars value was still quite high which explains why they fixed it. His built motor inspired me to build mine in similar fashion.

as itrs get more and more rare i'm guessing even something like this one with this kind of accident history will become worth something in the future and might be worthwhile to sort out?

From a collector standpoint any accidents will greatly reduce the value and collectors are only looking for clean title, no accident specimens. Anything with an large accident history is really only worth being a track rat or a completely rebuilt show car. Each with little value when compared to a non-accident one. The ITR's just aren't that rare yet. Maybe in 20 years or so though. Still, there are enough nice ones available that you can pick from those and watch the value go up over time.
A low mile ITR in stock form is worth high teens/low 20's nowadays. Some ultra clean examples will creep into the high 20's.
