Gotta add the description so we don't lose this nugget :lol

I have for sale a pretty rare car. It is a factory 5 speed 2.5l turbo 1989 dodge caravan. Running at 14psi with a manual boost controller, it leaves Honda civics in the dust. The sound of the blow off valve breaks more necks than Chuck Norris. It's not the most beautiful car but it gets all the ladies wet.

I mean, everything he says is true. Those things are quick.

68style 07-24-2019 09:58 AM

^ I don't think it gets ladies wet... at least not the kind any of us would want to talk to.

Relatively cheap fun daily. Shouldn't have any issues with VI with this sleeper.

2005 Volvo S60 T5, 257 hp, 6 sp manual, timing belt done, 206K kms, $5000 (which means ~ $4500-$4600 negotiated down price in my mind)

Bad. Auto is the suck, PDK is glory.

I disagree with Mark -- the auto (Tiptronic?) is good because it means I have absolutely no interest in considering the car. PDK might still be tempting for me, if the price is low enough. :dizzy:

^ Missing title is pretty easy to get, I had that on a 1971 Corolla I bought and the guy had never registered it and the papers expired so it actually technically belonged to the previous previous owner on paper... I actually googled them and figured out they had died within the last year... but still had to go through the process anyway, ICBC helped me send a letter to them (even though I knew they were dead) after a request at their head office and if they don't respond in a certain period of time the title is issued to you.

fliptuner 07-27-2019 11:03 AM

Whoa whoa... What's this about a 71 Corolla?

Where is it now?

tofu1413 07-27-2019 11:13 AM

real car guys:

M3, M4, lambo, ferrari, mclaren, ..... Meh.

71' corolla ?! omg wtf bbq WHERE.

and this is why for the most part i love the local car community.

68style 07-27-2019 11:24 AM

I sold it a couple years to ago to a guy in Florida... it was beyond what I could put into it rust-wise despite being a Sprinter coupe and even with a body shop owner as a close personal friend...

For my "toy" cars, the worst thing you could tell me, is that you saw another one in the parking lot. :heckno:

Which one is it, I see three here !?!?

This mint looking 1st gen Celica is back up, I'd be all over it if my current car wasn't so difficult to sell:

The ad has been up for a month but I don't recall seeing this posted up in the thread yet? To keep the V70R I posted company...

The ad is pretty light on details (WTF am I saying?? The sum total of all the verbiage in the ad is "2007 with 178k", it is completely devoid of details!) It could mean it's a basket case and the owner doesn't want to say that in the ad or that they just aren't car people and are just selling their old Volvo? The leather and the steering wheel look to be reasonably well kept. Regardless, it's an OK deal at $9,999 but if one could grind them down a bit, it could be a really good deal.

Reasonable km at 178K, the super-cool spaceball shifter AND Atacama interior :drool

^^ I thought someone mentioned before that the transmissions are like glass and I wonder if finding parts will be a bitch

snowfarmer 07-27-2019 07:03 PM

As I understand it, the auto transmissions on earlier years (prior to ‘04ish) are garbage. No issues with the manuals. There are other things to watch out for though.

whitev70r 07-27-2019 07:09 PM

2007's are the best (and last) year of that generation of R production. As snowfarmer said, manual should be fine. The thing to be careful of are:
1. 4C suspension, replacing them is very $$.
2. Angle gear.

It's a rare CL posting ... but at $10K, not a good buy. Around $7500-$8000 would be in the good buy range.

Zoomy 07-27-2019 07:59 PM

Ohhh whats the worst that could happen? Its an R in the right spec! Will be an experience no matter what happens!
