if you're gonna sell an 'excellent conditon' lexus it better have all the lugs on the wheel, c'mon that's not asking too much for basic safety stuff

198k km t belt done at alpha one. swapped in a newer brake booster/ abs pump as the old one leaked and failed.

i have a feeling the guy is still running the same tires - tires were in decent shape but quite old.

If a driver rolls around 24/7 with missing lugnuts I would be questioning how high his give a fuck meter is when it comes to maintenance and general upkeep of the car.

Not to mention it was a high end car when new so replacement parts can be pricey. Making it even more likely the guy has been skipping maintenance if it's missing basic stuff like a lug nut and running oldass tires if tofu's guess is correct.

I consider my Lexus to be in excellent condition, I just haven't had time in 1.5 weeks to go by Toyota and pick up a new lug nut for it since those wheels use these weird self-centering ones... I do not feel any safety issue with 4/5 bolts holding my wheel on for the time being.

Suit yourself/fail me all you want though.

I'd be more concerned about tire wear and maintenance / accident history as others have alluded to. I guess I also wouldn't put my car up for sale while it was missing one... but the general population, in case 1 day of driving around the lower mainland doesn't make it obvious for you, is not exactly operating at even a moderate level of intelligence.

The Producer 09-24-2019 07:25 PM

can you run around w 4/5 lugs? sure. you could prob get away w 2 on hubcentric wheels

it's ghetto AF tho. Same as people selling cars w any cheap fixes needing attention. spend a few hours and a hundred bucks at lordco fixing the lowest hanging fruit. Keeps the low ballers at bay and you'll get it back for sure.

It's like "i didn't have time to wash it" guy. Well GLWS pal, I'm not even coming to see it. :accepted:

twitchyzero 09-24-2019 07:32 PM

some of the lowest common denom also believe you can run on a doughnut for 6 months, should you sell a vehicle still on one?

yeah but "didn't get around to it"

at the very least put a disclaimer that the wheel isn't 100% secured on

and it just leads to more question: is the seller careless losing a key? overtightened the lugs to have stripped the key? skimping on the most obvious maintenance etc

I don’t think I’d touch a pre-2010 Hyundai with a 10’ pole. Everyone I know who had one hated it and couldn’t seem to get rid of it fast enough.

Biggest issue is finding a place to refuel it.

68style 09-26-2019 06:04 PM

Definitely not collector plate eligible, it’s not 15 years old + out of production and worldwide production was way over 1,500 units hahaha

I recall watching a video saying filling it up with hydrogen costs more than filling a gas car to get the same range so there are no gas savings:rukidding:

whitev70r 09-26-2019 06:53 PM

^ There is a Shell hydrogen station at Granville, just off the curve from Arthur Laing bridge.

Has anyone here dealt with the private dealer Company Of Cars? Was considering checking out one of their cars, but always tended to be a bit Leary of private dealers.

Spectre_Cdn 09-26-2019 08:47 PM

Mirai's are now available brand-new in BC, but only for fleet sales.
