LOL - this is my old car, and oddly, some of my original ad content.. 4 first pics are mine from when I sold it back in 2007.
Unless he removed mods I sold it with, it may also include short shift kit, AEM CAI, those are JDM clear bumper lens, not DYI. Obviously lowered.. can't remember suspension set up. He wasn't a car guy but liked my ride so bought it. He may not even remember/realize the after market parts.
I miss her!

Dude, its a Caprice body for $1700. These cars will be hitting up car shows in ten years.
The earlier generations of the Carprice have the potential to be cool, but I can't convince myself to like this generation. At least to me, it is one of the most aesthetically unattractive cars ever made.
Unless you dyi, you'll be well over $5K for the cost of a used engine and install.
yes, i was looking at it as a base for a build/project, not to fix/flip.

Depends on if you own a set of wrenches or not. Somewhere between next to nothing and a lot. They definitely require more money than some cars, but an e39 isn't an unreliable car by any means, nor is it new enough to be in the "computer only" era of fixing cars.
The 6 or 7k you save over a fun new car would get you through a couple years, and a couple years of 500WHP to boot.

21k and a trip to california seems like a pretty fucking good plan instead of those of you that would be walking into a dealership to pick up a new gti/fr-s/any other fun new car in the 30k range.

To quote someone on an M3 E36 forum - Don't buy these old cars unless you are going to DIY on as many things as possible.
The truth is, rarely do these cars 'break down' per say. Actually the really big dollars are spent by owners who begin to fall in love with their car and then open their wallets to satisfy their OCD.

Isn't that the truth.
I've spent money on fixing things on this car I NEVER would have noticed on my gti. I've borderline lost my mind because of my e36.
