On market rn, search conditions are: 2006-2013 BMW, at least 200,000km or from: 200 To: 300 (for those who dont list the last 3), and m/t - 2007 325i 6MT - 248,000km - $3,500 (modified - but otherwise good deal imo)
- 2007 328XI Wagon 6MT - 206,000km - $6,300 (posted here before)
- 2009 328XI 6MT LCI - 233,000km - $6,000
- 2009 328XI 6MT LCI - 210,000km on body|110,000km on engine - $9,000
- 2007 335i 6MT - 212,600km - $12,800
- 2007 335i 6MT - 217,000km - $7,900
Aside from the 325i, which isn't really in similar condition, but is a good deal, I have failed to find E9X for the same price and condition as the Volvo. That said, what would a S40 be comparable to anyway?

Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk | I don't have enough experience with Volvo (other than a few people I know who have owned them in the past) but I don't think Volvo maintenance is anywhere as wild as a BMW. I think it's the availability of parts and overall cost of parts, and then finding a shop who has the capability to work on them (there aren't very many these days) unless you go to the dealership. If you look at the age and mileage of the vehicle, it's probably going to need a bit of elbow grease and a big bank account, which goes back to my original point of maintenance potentially getting expensive.
I do agree that the comparison of this Volvo being the same as a 3-series E9x isn't exactly fair. Not to mention, the market demographic of the two brands. BMWs can still command a higher resale on the market because there is a larger market demand for them. I can't say the same for Volvo, not that I have anything against the brand. For those of you remember, a few months back, there was a nice B5 Audi S4 for sale for cheap. Turns out it needed a $9000 clutch job.
Edit: Not $9K - it was actually $5K.

The S40 is just a Euro Ford Focus sedan structurally... it's not particularly high maintenance at all

You can buy a "Luk" branded clutch kit for cheap, but none of them recommended it stating poor results, and often having to re-do the clutch job, and some even said no thanks to the work. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm no Audi specialist or guru. Quote:

Edit: Below is my original post, and I stand corrected, it was not $9K, but $5K LOL Huge margin of error there. Lucky for me, the car was sold before I could go see it. Quote:

I'm not a mechanic, so I'm going to run as far away as I can on the S4. Thanks for sharing though! |

What would you pay for something like this? I find you can easily knock off $2000 from dealer asking price without too much effort. | remove any one of the traits and the value of that car goes way down (EG same car but autotragic, or high mileage). That car with a few more miles and an auto would be $6K-$8K all day long. If that thing was $12K-$14K, I'd be in, even though I know that I'd likely lose money if I went to sell it. I would probably struggle to find anther weirdo willing to overpay for an 11 year old Saab. At $20K,I'll pass.

Thoughts on this 1990 Honda Civic SI? I've been eyeing it as it's kind of rare to see something this old in such good condition (aside from the mileage). https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds...983792799.html
Gonna shoot an email and see if it's still available.
EDIT: RIP, guess it's sold.

You're fucked... the Canadian Black Book Retail price for this vehicle is $7,325.00 so you're not going to get much more than that from ICBC in a writeoff.
In fact... lol... they deduct $800 from the value if it's manual on the Black Book... so down to $6,525.00 for a clean example hahaha

$3000 with 150k. Not sure how reliable the V6s are though.
Also it looks like a giant Mazda 3 hatchback.

The pics look good, if kind of over-processed / over-sharpened. The car looks like it has been lowered to me, but there is no mention of it in the description. I'm surprised by the lack of interior photos, esp since the ad mentions it has custom seats.
A bit odd to say the least.

The frame around the demo plate says Lucky 8 so I'd wager there's a good reason it's down 40k.

The high priced Lexus vehicles don't hold value well... look at all the LS's on the market they're $120k new but you can buy <10 year old ones for as little as $15k
