those Mid-late Production FC3S were so hot. :fuckyea:

been looking craigslist over the past ten years and fewer RX7's for sale year after year....

when i first got my license I remember Series 5 NA FC3S RX7's going for $2000.... in pretty decent shape too!

10K for a rebuilt dusty RX7... I'm not seeing the hype, its LHD sure but yeah.

LHD FD's still go for stupid money. One could probably fix it up and still make a tidy profit after driving it for a few years. My post was mainly a buyer beware.

SA/FB/FC's have become more scarce and prices have gone up significantly, over the last 3 years. I'm sitting on 3, S4's right now (2 coupes and a vert), if for no other reason than I won't find more, in the same condition. When I come across rare parts, I just add to the hoard. Of the 3 chassis', I'd say GSL-SE and T2's are the most scarce.

The caveat is probably the 1ZZ in this burns a motherload of oil, just like every other 1ZZ Corolla.

I wonder what's wrong with it.

Is there a difference between the 1ZZ in the Corolla and the Matrix or Celica? The ones we've had in the family never had any issues with oil burning (200k and 240k respectively).

68style 11-12-2019 08:41 PM

^ I hear this criticism too, but same as you I’ve never had any trouble with any 1ZZ engine vehicle.... including my sisters ‘03 Corolla

Prostrho 11-12-2019 10:02 PM

Rings and pistons were revised 4 or 5 times throughout the 1zz life cycle. Post 2003 ones the pretty safe. Safest ones are post 2005. 98-02 ones have a pretty high chance of drinking oil.

nsx042003 11-13-2019 02:03 PM

my 05 CE has 288km and not burning oil at all, i guess the newer design worked well

Only potential problem now is the odo will quit working at 299, don't feel like buying a new cluster

Don’t forget the exhaust pipe intake lol

hud 91gt 11-15-2019 04:00 PM

I’d rather spend my money on some galvanized intake piping, and some rattle can paint and have the inside nice and built. Lol. We ain’t all Revscene loaded. Haha

fliptuner 11-15-2019 06:13 PM

Your engine looks 10x better, even on a budget. Just giving a shit, shows.

5 months went by, from the time it was built, til it was tuned. I wonder how many clicks were put on it, during break-in, running rich and un-tuned.

Look at the rad mount and the engine ground. That would drive me nuts.

front bumper is thrashed on that s2000 but that is still a solid deal even if you needed/wanted to repaint it.

tofu1413 11-16-2019 08:55 AM

seeing paint on that serial plaque on the rad support is driving me nuts. same with the dirty power steering resevoir.
