Sounds like he rented it out for a bit of filming but it was down in California. Factoring in the cost of 2 flights or the cost to stay down there you're getting a lot less.

Plus if I'm going to drive the whole west coast twice I'd rather do it something vaguely sporty and not a massive army truck.
