Only if you never drive it to work or school. Collectors is pleasure use only.

They also expect you to have another vehicle for general transportation.

From the Collector Vehicle application:
Quote:
The collector vehicle will be used solely for pleasure purposes, and cannot be used for general transportation, and will not at any time be used for driving to or from or part way to or from work or school or for any business purpose or commercial use.

I own or lease a non-collector, general transportation vehicle or I am the assigned operator of a company vehicle that is registered, licensed and insured in B.C. as my non-collector, general transportation vehicle.

So you can't take the bus/train and have a collector car?

^ You can, but you’ll pay full price for the insurance. It sounds confusing but you can have collector plates and even drive to work or not own another car, you just don’t get the benefits from it (ie: cheap insurance) other than having a different license plate.

I currently have a modern Lexus and 2 collector cars and I only take the train to work... but my plan is to sell the Lexus and use my 250cc motorcycle as my main insured vehicle (it qualifies) and just have the 2 collector cars as I never ever drive to work.

Even if something is just slightly bent in your suspension you'll never be able to get it aligned properly unless everything that was damaged is replaced. The car is scrap. Literally just a parts car at this point.

On a Carfax, if there's a collision claim but the amount is zero dollars, does it mean anything?

To me that means they reported the collision but then elected to fix it themselves

Typically you see $0 claims when the accident is less than a deductible. Eg. someones deductible is $500 (most people have this) someone bumps into someone and causes light scratches or a door ding, they report it and the repair work is $200. In the end you'd just pay that out of pocket and the carfax would get hit with a $0 claim.

This part is not correct. Vehicles displaying collector plate may NEVER be used for work/school regardless or what premium you're paying. Please refer to ICBC collector application form.

like how is an integra eligble before 25 years yet defunct oldsmobiles arent (one of the oldest auto name on the continent)

But an integra type R is a collector car, and a 1998 Oldsmobile is just a pile from a company that went out of business. I’d say that’s exactly how it should be.

An ACURA Integra Type R DC2 managed to get collector plates. On the other hand a Honda Integra Type R DC2 (RHD) is NOT eligible for collector plates until 25 yo. Go figure.

I just want ICBC to get rid of the rules and I'll determine.
"Your 996 has the aerokit and nice wheels, you get the collector plate. Your 996 has a techart bumper and is automatic. Your insurance will be $1700/monthly. XXR wheels on your e30? You're under arrest sir."

As long as icbc is relying on arbitrary rules then people are going to disagree with them. Just run it like a business and let underwriters do their jobs

its a $1900 car. who cares how many k.

as long as it runs, not completely clapped out, stops and good tread on tires without a check engine light. it's gold.

working power window and AC is a bonus.
