Or completely ignore all the information provided and go with whatever the sales guy points to that doesn't match their needs at all.

I get that once in a while.

family friends that ask for professional opinion and multiple conversations later.... they go against my advice.

when shit hits the fan, they come back to me and ask for advice again.

its a never ending cycle.

Without people who need a car to boost their self image, how will shady car salesman put bread on the table?

hud 91gt 01-22-2020 03:05 PM

I don’t really know if it’s validation, rather then stubbornness. Thinking you know better then even the professional (perhaps due to reasons you don’t think they are thinking about). I’m certainly guilty of that, sadly it often ends up by learning the hard way. That is life!

Seems priced too low? (for a Toyota) :suspicious:

A friend had one (though with auto tranny) where he logged 320k+ km on the car before trading up for something newer and nicer. But I guess it isn't really anything special since Toyotas from that era were built to do that much...

twitchyzero 01-22-2020 10:29 PM

heated power seats, fogs, bulletproof v6/manual 5spd, very low milage

best deal i've seen in months

tofu1413 01-22-2020 11:18 PM

there was an identical one for sale for $1000 not too long ago.....

i wonder if the same guy bought it and rolled back the odo.......

1500 is a sweet deal for that thing and is a lot of car. that V6 is very smooth and powerful for what it is.

donjalapeno 01-22-2020 11:46 PM

Ridiculous deal. Almost to good to be true. Those are nice driving vehicles. I would prefer to drive that over most modern Corollas/Yaris'.

tofu1413 01-22-2020 11:53 PM

cheaper than a clapped out civic corolla echo tercel

rather be in this solara.

Especially doesn't help when BMW physically does not give you an option to check the oil aside from pressing a few buttons to show a little bar graph in the dash :lawl:

EDIT: also comparing a Solara to a Yaris/Echo is blasphemous, those things drive so well, that V6 is sublime.

Speaking of BMW's, not a craigslist goodbuy but the ultimate e36 m3

jaaagman 01-23-2020 07:58 AM

Do the E36 LW's have the junky NA M3 engine?

bcrdukes 01-23-2020 08:47 AM

It should have the European ITB'd version

Edit: I am wrong. See answer below.

If it's real that's a great deal. With the low mileage the engine + trans combo alone should be worth most of the value of the car.

No, it doesn’t. The only euro motors anywhere in North America from factory were the Canadian 94 models.

What exactly do you mean send it into a wall? Get paid out 2k and have your rates skyrocket?

tofu1413 01-23-2020 11:12 AM

Send it into a wall... by hooning around in it and strapping on dining trays on the rear wheels for some FWD drifting and wall tapping.

acquire MR2 --> extract all donor parts necessary --> scrap solara --> ????? --> profit

Badhobz 01-23-2020 12:09 PM

omfg, somebody pickup this solara!!! revscene solara maybe? weekend hooner for the group? have a revscene sign out sheet ?

immorality 01-23-2020 12:14 PM

That Solara transmission has the same gear ratios as the MR2 Turbo, but a longer final drive ratio, so they have become a bit sought after for those that are making a bit more power. It took me about 4 years to find a spare Solara transmission on it's own, but I looked high and low for a low price car and if you could even find a V6-manual combo it was still ~$2500 with higher miles.

TLDR, definitely a good buy, and will probably be gone by the end of today.

Mr.Money 01-23-2020 05:16 PM

sad to see these sit and never driven, maybe someone on RS can buy?
