Not common. WRX motors yes, Honda Motors no. VW's have been cursed by bad handling from the get go, at least it'll be fast in a straight line. ha
I love the line "Please don't call me with a million questions". haha Good luck

my definition of not so bad in this case is that the sides of the rear bumper still has something relatively solid to clip on to and is not flapping in the wind

not sure if its a good deal (sorry i dont know much about good deals on cars) | That's pretty cheap for an ek9. The front end would have been hot years ago, but its definitely cutting into its value now.

This seller has had countless Craigslists ads. He sells "clean title" at rebuild prices. I've seen a 2013 Acura ILX and 2010 Mazdaspeed3 he was selling for about $5-6000 under market value.

if the accident was claimed through icbc, would there be a record of how much needed to be replaced and how much the estimate was?
i say go take a look at it, and if it still looks good see if they will let you take it to another bodyshop to inspect. if they say no then of course walk away but if they say yes and another shop says it's a good repair... big savings?

When it comes to big repair, it will never be the same no matter how good the repair is.....
all the sudden you can hear rattle noise, see the paint fading, etc regardless it's from the repair or not....then you would ask yourself why did I want to save couple thousand and get something like this?!

-Dave | I have no doubt yours handle great. Trust me, the Beetle is my favourite car. They are amazingly light, and with the right modifications can handle well but your starting off with a flawed design. No if ands or buts. I was going to finish that last post off with a "I have a big hard on for Beetles, probably bigger then CCA-Dave, but that doesnt stop me from seeing the truth" so I expected your reply. Ha. Having the engine hang that far out the back is not going to help the situation much.
You don't see too many winning SCCA championships, or podium finishes on the track when competing against a sports car.
BTW, I'd love to get a ride in your car so you can prove me wrong. It would be a riot and I just love them so much.
