I wouldn't even change the title lest people get confused. I mean there's a Craigslist Fails thread too but nobody uses it.

bcrdukes 01-31-2020 10:09 PM

I don't disagree with the idea of creating a new thread, it's just that this forum's participation levels are at an all-time low, and is an aging demographic. Kids don't like cars, music, clubbing, food, movies relationships, VLS General Chat, or turbo kits anymore. RIP.

Leave it be. Don't funk with a good thing.

Fun idea. I remember seeing a yellow Lancia Delta Integrale for sale here years ago. Probably the most interesting thing I've ever seen on CL.

Outside of the interest towards cards, I'm not sure this is case... being on the younger side myself (23).

I'm thinking that the discussion is happening more on other channels (i.e. IG, FB, TikTok)

bcrdukes 02-01-2020 10:09 AM

Besides "likes" I'm not sure there's much discussion on said channels. #angryoldman

Call me old and grumpy, but I still prefer forums over Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (who the fuck uses that anyway?) etc.

If any mods/admins are reading this, I think it's time to change the forum and focus back on its roots. I've spent, what, 18/19 years on this forum, including the ezBoard days? Good lord.

22 here. I would say that forums are better for serious discussions because of how its organized and if you know how to use Google properly, the ease of finding information.

For example, that VI thread I started. I'm very doubtful that we would have gotten any serious discussion or planning done, if it was done on Facebook (VCC).

I think all the other forms of social media are more for shit posting and dick swinging. Personally, I've learned a lot from all the RS members here from cooking [thanks westopher], dating [thanks SIO crew], and cars in general.

One of the most common criticism I hear about RS is that it's just full of old guys who like stock cars. Hell, I'm not about making my car look like a VI magnet. I appreciate OEM+ and I think that's more of the identity of RS since the population is older. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Adding on to my thoughts on the unique culture of RS, I don't think there's any other platform where people share a unique sets of values. For example, I can't walk up to a Hawkeye STI and go like, hey are you Bob Smith from VCC? There's so many people from VCC. I guess you could drop a IG handle, but that's kind of creepy. Whereas, on RS, for me at least, I can go up the owner of a EF Civic Si, and be like hey you're tofu on RS right?

oh yeah, baby. stock cars. :jerkoff:

bcrdukes 02-01-2020 10:28 AM

The part about old guys liking stock cars is not true. I won't speak for everyone, but I still like to mod my cars and appreciate those who do (even if it means installing a sushi rack on their Nissan Micra.) Just know that our priorities have changed and we're at a different stage in our lives (i.e. families etc.) Can't go around getting groceries on weekends on a slammed vehicle knowing the parking lot at your favourite grocery store has huge ass speed bumps, and your wife/significant other/boyfriend etc complains about how uncomfortable the car is. One day, you'll understand. lol

Take westopher's E36 M3. It's modified, looks relatively stock, and looks awesome. It's not 90s Integra GS with a Bomex kit loud, but subtle enough to look awesome and can be easily appreciated.

No I get it. And I'm saying there's nothing wrong with that. I love what westopher's done to his car or 320iCar. Two opposite spectrums, but frankly it's refreshing from all the other rice #stance cars (no offense purple fx35 guy) that we always see across social.

My (now) ex-gf hated my squeaky breaks, low car, sightly loud (it was stock) old car. Her parents thought I street raced (no I go to the track). So I get that there's limits as you get older or that you can be negatively perceived.

you go to jail bad boy!

also, given that some of you are 22/23, there's big age gap from where we are lol

I feel like we have very opposite approaches to certain things... this being one of them LOL

I've always seen being young as the time to focus on core priorities while becoming more established with age provides more freedom and ability to have some fun

Facebook car groups are cringe inducing. How many times do I need to see "SiDe sHoT SaTUrDaY"?

Valuable information gets lost because noobs keep posting repeat questions and the good discussions get buried in the depths of the endless scroll. It's messy and caters to the '15 minute and forget it' syndrome.

Then you have splinter groups because some butthurt dude wants admin rights and then it goes further downhill from there. Yeah I'll take forums, thanks. Archived tech posts are golden especially with the older cars. Even with members leaving communities, if the forums are still up, those old tech articles still prove valuable to this day.

Also, this thread is almost 6 years old. Why is a name change being talked about now? :lol

Anyway...

Found this. Looks to be in good shape. If only the hood was up.

Unless they change a lot social media will never be able to convey and store information as well as a forum. Ongoing discussions, build threads, etc don't work with that format. And good luck finding a 15 year old how-to on Facebook (not that they even exist on there)

Gawd, these BMW are shitz in terms of keeping its value. 2007 Civic SI's are listed for more on CL!

Could be a good buy if it checks out, little sketch with lack of description.

That Mustang is not a good buy. I tried to sell a 2007 GT stick with 100,000km, absolutely immaculate bone stock with all records for $8500 and it sat for 2 months with zero interest.

Thats because nobody wants an early 5th gen Mustang.

Yah, looks like a stag prank or something. No way it's real.

Of course not. Nobody wants the gen listed above, either. Usually fox body stuff is desirable, the 03-04 Cobra's, and 2011+ 5.0l's.

Exactly, but people want stupid money for desirable items.
