Why? That car has the N52 I6 engine. It’s a pretty reliable motor with a strong transmission. It may need things like oil filter housing/valve cover gaskets done but a weeping gasket won’t kill it, overall that is a pretty reliable car. Base model. Not too many complex electronic things to go wrong.

Super sketchy tranny on these cars

I think the e46 transmission was better than e36 ones, I believe they are a GM unit. I had a BMW auto with 240k kms and it shifts buttery smooth. Better than Lexus Mercedes units. It just depends on if it's been well maintained. Let's not even get started on Honda transmissions

As always with E46s, check history of cooling system. Since it's an auto, make sure fan clutch was replaced as well. It's known to shatter into pieces and shoot up through your hood LOL

Definitely not.
The GM transmissions are known to very often have complete torque converter failure, and the ZF e46 transmissions are known to lose reverse. Both are only remedied by rebuilds.
e36 autos are awful from a driving perspective, but much more reliable.

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds...068660933.html - Viper project for 15k, might be good depending on what needs to be done

twitchyzero 02-03-2020 07:19 PM

stretch to call it giving a $50k car away if it's rebuilt and need like another 50% of the asking price to get it running

2000 BMW - 528i (120,035 Km)

Alberta car needing to pass inspection.. Not sure how much of a headache that is but if that's all that the car is needing - it could be a good deal for the right DIYer given the low kms

I'd say compared to this one, it's a rip. Didn't know vipers we're this cheap.

Hahaha I love it... bored with the standard V10, better add a supercharger!

Better have a big hairy pair between your legs to put the go pedal down in that thing on anything less than the driest, stickiest pavement you've ever been on.

Not a great deal but I wonder if you pay cash, how much haggle room you have since it's an old car at a new car dealership?

westopher 02-04-2020 11:38 AM

That viper can’t be a real ad.

bcrdukes 02-04-2020 11:44 AM

If you Google search the image, it's a fake ad.

vitaminG 02-04-2020 12:04 PM

Probably for the best that supercharged vipers arent that cheap

Get it for $1500-2k, and might be worth the huge headache...... Have fun with the rear bearings :lol

08 323i - $3700, seems like the sellers wants the car gone and is quite flexible

I would imagine quite a bit, tbh I'm surprised they have a 22 year old off-brand car on the lot at all. Normally I'd think that would go straight to auction. Even at that price that's a lot of car for the money.

vitaminG 02-05-2020 09:47 AM

^ it's a Chrysler dealership, the only 22 yo car they could sell would be off brand.
