:okay:ad flagged for removal.

It seemed legit enough with the seller referencing it was at his parents house in Squamish? I wonder if a prospective buyer got a few people together to flag it to have it taken down to remove any other potential buyers. I'm away in Mexico right now but was thinking about taking a look at the thing when I got back, to see what was up with it. Depending on what caused the write off and the reality of his $3K-$5K parts cost this thing would have lined up at $18K-$20Kand this one is the best color combo, the cheapest clean title Viper GTS on Autotrader RN is $45K. If it would really be $18-$20K (plus some of my time) to have it on the road, I would have been in (with all the marital implications that come with that decision.)

still on FB. we reached out, didn't hear back though. I would have picked it up yesterday.

there's enough on the account to have made me think it was real initially but it's feeling more like a deposit scam now. :rukidding:

I reached out to him a couple days ago and said i'd be in squamish that evening with a trailer, or the day he got back from Mexico, and cash in hand at asking price, no reply. Very likely fake. Well written add too.

His display pic has a Blue Viper in it as well, maybe he's aiming to have a bidding war.

underscore 02-05-2020 07:29 PM

Skimming the guys profile it looks like he does own a blue Viper (and a Cruze that he's selling too). It says we have a friend in common so I'm half tempted to ask my buddy how well he knows him lol.

not a type-S and it's FWD so auto doesn't detract from value imo

snowfarmer 02-06-2020 11:01 AM

He also has the Viper listed on Autotrader.

I've been shopping around for a Gen II Viper for a while and have looked at all sorts of them. A word of caution to those considering the Blue/White 97 - parts are becoming very difficult to find. When it comes to the basics it's a Dodge. But the Viper has a lot of specific stuff that you just can't find anymore or you'll be scouring Viper forums for months in order to find something used or new/old stock someone's been hoarding. Windshields for example are all long gone, get a crack and you are paying thousands to have someone custom make a replacement. Body panels, lights, the clamshell hood.... all gone. A simple front end fender bender can write the car off because parts are irreplaceable.

This guy saying the car doesn't run but needs 3-5k in work raises eyebrows. He put high compression pistons in it and now it doesn't run. If he did the head gasket you actually have to pull the motor, pull the heads, and re-sleeve the block (because the sleeves creep, killing the gasket). Make sure you find out why it was written off as well and who did the rebuild. It could be a serious time and money pit. That being said you could part that car out for 15K because of the rarity of it, the clamshell hoods go for many thousands of dollars alone. The cost of entry in to these cars is low but to put the Viper in perspective from 1993-2017 they built a total of 32,000 cars, that's less than one year of production of a Corvette. There's going to be a bit of an 'exotic' premium to keep it in good order.

first viewer? Josh has been trying to sell that thing for a year.

JDMDreams 02-07-2020 08:27 PM

I've driven that e39 525i drives ok but I don't think he had any records before his ownership. There's a long key Mark on one side and quite a bit of body dings.
