1990 325iS. Not super cheap, but collector plates and unmolested. It is auto, but that has probably kept the car in much better condition. Easily swapped to manual.
Hard to find in not raped drift slut condition https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...080097679.html
Edit: Late model means small bumpers, and if I’m not mistaken it looks like it has the 15” euro weaves, not the factory 14” basketweavws

you'd have to own it for a long ass time to break even with cheap insurance on a higher entry/price tag
and i'm not sure i want an auto on a 2nd car that i cant use for work (will it still qualify for collectors if you trans swap?)

Totally agree that I wouldn’t want the auto for a fun car, but there are definitely some older enthusiasts that maybe can’t drive manual anymore that it would be a fit for. Of course the market is tiny for a car like this, but it could make sense.

that's still a clown price for that car though. I'd consider it at 8k

Tranny doesn't matter for collector plates. Hell, any stock motor from the series would qualify.

You guys are living in the past. I agree it’s not cheap and I’d definitely not spend that, but 12k for a collector plated clean stock non molested late model 325iS is a good deal for someone in the market
Edit: would you rather have this for 8k?? Lolol https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...066363657.html |

Perhaps 68style or the Rally VW Bug can chime in.

Wow if that G checks out, that's a pretty decent price. I'm kinda jealous, this has the navi system, projector headlights, and memory seats.

FYI to those who might not know - collector plates are not transferable. Just because it qualified whenever this guy got them doesn't mean it will now. New owners have to re-apply from scratch.
shitty ad, shitty pics, conveniently not showing the drivers seat bolster, no engine bay pics, multi shades of silver - doesn't even list the mileage. These are the guys that tell you to check BAT pricing before you even call them
it might qualify for collector plates, but it's not ready to pull any kind of collector money.
i do agree that would be close to the number if this was a factory manual car, with service records and no rust.

This would get decimated on BAT. Pass.
