Understand you need not have. Talking is the money opinion needless. Everyone know what is Porsche means beautiful status and experience driving glory.

RIP Tic Tac

It hasn't sold because the market for a meh, automatic, old Japaneses car that has next to zero collectability or mod potential is amazingly small.

lol tic tac

If it checks out, that's actually an excellent deal.

^ really? I've seen 04 tsx 6 speeds under 5k and I'd much rather have one of those. The El is a gutless and dated looking and based on the worst generation of Civic.

I think the 04 EL should have been the facelifted version of the car, and all the problems that affected the pre-facelifted models are taken care of.

People regularly diss the 7th gen Civic as the worst gen in existence, and I can't completely agree. The 01 - 03 cars were subpar for a Honda, with a number of reliability issues, but IMO, the early 9th gen Civics (2012 - 2013?) were worse with the cheaped out interior and mediocre handling.

To this day, I still miss my honest-to-goodness 2004 beater Civic. Its trunk was absolutely humongous, the flat floor in the rear passenger compartment awesome, and the engine a totally willing workhouse. The car even handled sufficently well with an agile and netural handling.

Don't forget a ride height that wouldn't catch Cain's eyes on his worst Monday... great little to/from car!

Jmac 03-03-2020 12:39 PM

Having owned a Civic with the same engine, I can confirm it’s pretty gutless, but it’s cheap, reliable transportation with some nice creature comforts. Would 100% take the EL over a Corolla.

I've never seen an under 5k '04 TSX that wasn't beat to shit by the last four owners. Also TSX needs premium and is actually quite a lot more thirsty than the 20/29 rated mileage. Gimme the facelift EL any day of the week.

I don't need my daily to be fun at all, just needs to be clean/tidy and get me from point A to point B comfortably and reliably. Fuck I'm getting old.

tofu1413 03-03-2020 02:06 PM

oh man

EL with aero kit.

looks like a VI magnet.

Rallydrv 03-03-2020 02:29 PM

having owned both EL/TSX, tsx gets my vote, the engine is super strong , mine lasted me 12 years and was still strong when i got rid of it. by the end, i wasn't putting in 94 regularly, never had any issues whatsoever.

owned 00 el /01 EL/ 04 TSX

Euro7r 03-03-2020 02:35 PM

2002 Honda Civic, miss my first car. Drove that thing like I stole it everyday, redline like 10 times each day, no issues (not even a single oil leak). Then my current car, fucking oil leak the past 6 months and I don't even drive it hard, ain't a Subie if it ain't leaking oil I guess??!

Looked into that gen TSX with a friend. There are some not-uncommon issues that can get quite expensive.

i.e. axles often go bad and they're $900 from the dealer for the MT special part. A/C compressor sometimes goes bad too.

Yes! Oh man, that is a good deal for that car. 505hp LS V8, Multimatic spool valve dampers, carbon ceramic brakes.

I like it.

twitchyzero 03-03-2020 08:26 PM

Canadian-built Civic with some bespoke (difficult to find) lights/bumpers vs Euro-spec Accord from Japan?

K24 is also one of the most highly sought-after motor for swapping into anything from a Toyota to an Ariel Atom...so if you total it you wouldn't even be sad lol

fliptuner 03-03-2020 08:35 PM

K24A2 swapped, facelifted EL. Problem solved.

I was about to say that. Great idea, but zero chance it’s a real deal for that price
