Interesting. A built engine EK and an ITR engine EG, each similar overall, and each listed for the same amount. The whp of the built engine (180 whp) and the itr engine (160-170whp) is even close. I would go with the EG since a rebuilt engines reliability depends largely on the rebuilder, and also since aftermarket is less reliable than oem in general. I would say they're both good deals seeing as B18c5s are around $4k.

c5 over the d series
you'll have a better resale value with the c5 too

TurboFC3S 12-03-2014 09:36 PM

Thanks for the advice guys. I've always been a b series motor guy myself. Msged both of em

edit: Just noticed the EG has over 300k on that chassis tho.. that will prob hurt resale value despite how clean it appears to be

I was contemplating it, not sure how I would feel with a car that's touching 400k kms. For sure it's reliable but a lot of components are probably in need of replacement soon...

not sure what you mean. i don't think the vin and the engine block number match?

I thought the VIN on the block and the VIN on the chassis were the same?

I've never really given VINs any serious attention so I may well be wrong.

Can anyone confirm/clarify?

Jgresch 12-04-2014 11:02 AM

The vin is the same on motor as chassis

Went and checked it out with one of my friends. Car really does look new (outside at least) pulled really hard. He was going to buy it the next week but got laid off from his work so it didnt make sense to him anymore.

You could get a false positive with that if the engine was legitimately taken from a theft recovery or if it was swapped out prior to a theft.

agreed. my vx was awesome when i had it. If you can find one that isn't rusting like crazy, and ideally, not teal, you've got a pretty high demand car. the 400k ams is scary, but for 800 bucks, thats not bad.

white rocket 12-04-2014 03:13 PM

Not really a "good deal" but these are usually pretty pricey anyway. I love these fucking things

Gonna look at the car tonight but based on what the ad says, I'd say no on for the price.
A bunch of B18C5 motor swapped EK's sold for $5K range this summer with way more goodies in the car or low low mileage.
Plus this one might be a rust bucket since it is at 300K km's.

I'll report back tonight.
