Seems like a pretty good deal for a fully loaded Camry SE V6 with relatively low kms.

I thought XLE is the highest trim.

You know what would be a cool find. TRD Supercharged Camry in that M/Y (XV20). 247hp; 242lb-ft, nothing to brag about but 5 M/T? Pretty much impossible tho I'm guessing.

Yes, tough to find, but every once in a while one of these 'kits' comes up for sale. When I did the swap to my MR2 I had considered this as well, but the newer 2grfe engine makes more power in stock form and those superchargers were the same price as my engine.

twitchyzero 04-20-2020 08:34 AM

still a Camry

68style 04-20-2020 08:50 AM

That’s not always a bad thing, as a fleet manager I drove countless cars for 14 years and one of my favourite cars I ever drove dynamically and comfort wise was the sport version of the 2012-2014 Camry V6. Absolutely brilliant and under-appreciated car. Fast, nimble, spot on brakes and steering response, felt lighter than it was, handled well.

bcrdukes 04-20-2020 09:28 AM

Toyota has taken the Camry to new heights, in my opinion. I did a lot of traveling for work and have gone through a lot of different rental vehicles. The Camry was always my favourite out of the lot to choose from such as the Nissan Altima, VW Jetta, VW Bettle (yes, I know) and a bunch of your typical Hyundai/Kia, and domestics etc. Like 68style, I quite enjoyed that model year and I also felt it was underappreciated.

twitchyzero 04-20-2020 10:59 AM

to be fair i think the latest trd camry sounds good and know that + accord v6 can match or beat performance cars from 2 decades ago

but everytime i sit behind a non-lexus toyota car made the last 10 years all this plastic trims, thick ass bezeled infotainment with tiny buttons, passenger airbag light lit front & center and steering numb as hell i'm reminded why modern toyotas are a complete turn-off

i'm saying this as someone actively looking for an older toyota truck so it's not that i look down on the brand

Thoughts on this?

^ I'm confident it's clean inside and out - but this being his second or third vehicle, it didn't get as much love as big ticket items like cooling system, subframe and vanos are not done. Also seeing that he did not post on Craigslist and only on the forums seems like he's not interested in a local sale and is wanting to capitalize on the exchange rate

If that's the case, he should list it on Bring a Trailer, let the market do the talking

bcrdukes 04-21-2020 05:21 AM

Might as well list it on Sotheby's. :troll:

I wish him luck. It is a challenging time to sell a toy or luxury item at a premium price.

The currency exchange is appealing but as I quickly learned the border closure and difficulty flying to Canada makes it even more challenging to sell a car to an American right now. Technically an American can still fly here to see the car and drive it home but there are many challenges.

TFX is still shipping cross border if someone wants to buy sight unseen. It's been fun watching Silver Arrow list on BAT No reserve as there is a huge spike in views and cars are still selling there for decent money. They have the network to bring their cars to Blaine WA and title them in the USA taking a lot of guess work out for buyers.

Edit: Probably fake but 1993 Dodge Viper, 56000 miles, $36,000

Tough market for sure, given the economic situation and public policy on health and security. Sellers should be more informed when listing their vehicles for cross border buyers, perhaps by leveraging established companies like Silver Arrow and the like to appeal to a specific market demographic. My post about listing on RM Sotheby's was tongue-in-cheek, but not TOO too far off from companies like Silver Arrow. :p Forum rats aren't likely going to pick examples like M car up.

Is it a good buy? Personally, no. But I'm sure it's worth that much (if not, more) to someone else. I'm okay when someone is trying to make a buck or two, but the asking price for that M car was just out to lunch.

westopher 04-21-2020 11:19 AM

You can ask whatever you want when you have something where there are no comparables on the market. If there are, it better have something to make it stand out from those.

02 325xi 5spd - $3100obo

is this a poor mans STI? i'm not a sub guy. Wiki says this is the same motor as the WRX. I'm guessing that means all the same tuning options would apply.

^ I thought WRX was always a 2L Turbo 4 while the Outback was a 2.5

Ad also says miles not sure if it's a US import.... engine bay looks suspiciously clean.

SSM_DC5 04-21-2020 06:56 PM

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that outback comes with a EJ255 which also came on 06+ wrx. Engine for sti is EJ257. Turbo on it is a vf46 which is different from both the wrx and sti.

Teriyaki 04-21-2020 07:03 PM

Posting deleted. Crap, what did I miss? Was it a reasonably priced subie unicorn? gotdangit

Yes, that's correct as far as I know.

Funny thing is, they did a flat 6 3.0 as well even though it only puts out a few more HP and Ft/Lbs. My new neighbor has one. Maybe one day I'll get to drive it and see what the difference is between that and my 2.5XT. Less lag, more weight?

I have driven an Impreza STI, and a Forrester STI and they both seem way faster and better sounding.

Had the H6 Subie for a little while before a family member totaled it... :rukidding:.

In any case, I preferred the pull of the turbo versions. More raw? The 6 was definitely smoother but you felt the weight more too.

Akinari 04-21-2020 11:40 PM

The H6 sure makes an interesting/unique sound though.
