I actually do... to track actual MPG L/100KM (specially for older vehicles like my NA Miata which has no such function onboard built in lol)etc etc and other maintenance items and such... takes 5 seconds each time...

I use a free app called fuelio

This way I dont have to remember

The last time I did spark plugs, oil change, fluid flush, etc etc....

And always interesting to see how long the brakes, the odd light bulb, tires, clutch lasted paired to my style of driving/commute etc....

Lastly... to cry myself to sleep as at a glance I know how much I sunk into the hobby.... people said its cheaper than gambling lol... hahahaha

It's at least 5k less than the other Alltracks on CL. As they say, no steals from dealers so I wonder if it's got some history...

Jmac 05-06-2020 04:45 PM

I also log every fill up to monitor fuel economy. I wouldn’t say it adds anything to resale value, though.

Good eye, went to dealer to see carfax. There is one relatively big accident claim on it, $13K. Here is carfax

My old car, traded it in for an Atlas Cross sport. Got rear ended just a year into ownership, low speed only cosmetic damage to the rear bumper and drivers side quarter panel. No frame damage.

What a coincidence you saw this. I've been seeing many inaccuracies with carfax reports.

Did you trade it in at the end of 2017, or in 2018? I'm just wondering how accurate the carfax details are. Lists the kms the same 6 months apart. Either you were driving it and the kms reporting is wrong or the car sat parked somewhere and I would assume it was a wreck.

I just ran a carfax on the widebody mr2 I picked up. The mileage is all over the place, and it doesn't help that I just registered it and when she asked the kms and I didn't know the exact I ballparked it. Shortchanged myself by 5000. We ran my buddies collectable euro junk, mileage issue as well.

Whoever is entering kms info needs to view it and do it correctly or not enter anything at all. They need to make this a rule. I see they have a place where you can upload a document to support a kms change, but my mr2 has so many records over the years. I suspect the problem is it's a california car, sometimes they entered it as miles, other times kms.

Can you say much they gave you as trade-in? My guess is around $17.5K. This one seems to be the top of the line - SEL trim level with the panoramic roof, Nav, Climate control, and more.

Knowing all this, I still think there is value here. Put a $500 tune in and get that 170 hp to 195-200 hp and you have yourself a GTI AWD wagon with a lot of options in the Alltrack like 17" wheels, silver accents, rugged underbody plates, drive mode with descent, fogs, etc. And as a general rule, used cars at a dealer can be had for about $1500-2000 off asking price without breaking a sweat. For this one, since it is priced pretty well, maybe $1200 off asking price. MSRP + OTD price for this is probably ~$45K, this is a good buy here.
