Wow aside from wheels, that looks exactly like my car lol.
Good daily, but still a German so parts are somehow always more expensive than Japanese. Just make sure you have your eye on the oil and keep up with your changes. That and make sure the cam follower is changed, I hear its really the only weak link in the engine.

That's a good deal for that car if everything checks out.

If anyone is curious this guy wrote me back and said he wants $14,000 USD for the car which is about $19,500cdn........ in other words a pretty healthy markup on what it went for a few months back.

= 80k miles not even broken in yet lol

the UZ can do a million miles in the tundra so i wouldn't let a high mileage example deter you

personally i'd just get the 4runner as they're both prado 120, depends if you want to sleep in the back or have more luxury

RE: mk5
I really liked mine and I had 3 problem free years with it. I’ve heard stories, but I didn’t have any of the common problems. I’ve seen it driving around from time to time and it still looks well taken care of which is nice. It’s a bit bland as far as driving experience went, but definitely fun for a practical car.

I would love one but is it 3 times better than an Is350

320icar 05-21-2020 08:42 PM

Yes

68style 05-21-2020 08:48 PM

Gotta be careful on IS-F that they haven’t had the coolant leak in the valley or check if that’s been repaired already... $$$$$$ job outside of warranty

snowfarmer 05-21-2020 10:15 PM

as I understand it, the cam follower issue is only on the FSI engines. Halfway through the '08MY they switched from the FSI to the TSI engine, eliminating the cam follower issue. This car being an '09 should be free of that issue, I think it's a great deal for a nice little DD.

As someone who went from an IS350 to an IS-F, yes the price difference is 100% worth it, and it is 3x better.

twitchyzero 05-22-2020 11:03 AM

they hold value well that's for sure
remember dr. mike got scammed for 40k on one like 10 years ago?

Off lease vehicle with an insignificant $1167.98 right rear corner damage record and not a lot of mileage. Obviously you'd have to be able to put up with that light tan interior (I can't.)

Price-wise, it is significantly lower than pretty much all 718 Cayman S you find in the market to the point that it is almost bordering on 981 Cayman S asking price. It looks to me like the car is very lightly optioned, which also partly explain its lower asking price.

westopher 05-22-2020 12:42 PM

Wouldn’t most people rather have the 981 though? I’d certainly want the flat six over the turbo motor
