If you're a fan of Harry's Garage you know about these cars. Harry Metcalfe is an advisor with Jaguar Special Operations, and has done several vids about them.
Absolute beasts. Feels like a car that would be hard to enjoy here though. I wouldn't want to drive one in VI town, and I feel like it would be a hell of a heat score on the Coq.
I see that 8 series roll around occasionally and I always thought it was the rebuilt one. As I recall there was 2 or 3 rebuilt ones on sale for years on cl
2001 BMW E39 M5. Carbon Black on Black. 200,000km. Just spent $3500 on full service. She runs great but needs a lot of TLC. Ideal driver for someone who can spend time cleaning her up. Clean carfax

From the seller...

Lower rocker panel needs a repaint (this is the major item), front lower bumper is cracked, one of the PDC sensors is not functioning, kidney grills need repaint/replacement (black would look ideal), weather strip on drivers door, glove box hinge needs to be fixed, aftermarket stereo is working but needs to be looked at, wiper motor needs replacing (i have the part). lower engine belly pan needs to be reinstalled.
^those are quite minor.. Most of those stuff are so cheap to buy used from shit 5er e39 parts cars laying around on craigslist. That m5 seems like a great deal to me
If he's being honest about that list... it's a pretty good deal given M5 prices nowadays... despite being an earlier model... someone has spent significant time changing stuff on that car though, the steering wheel even has a black/white BMW logo and the aluminum dash parts were only an '03 thing it should have been wood trim in there.

Wanted to check it out today but played it safe (anniversary today) and asked to see it tomorrow instead.
Wife said I should've went to see it today. She said it would be OK.
I was the first to check out the M5 and passed on it without discussing price. There was room to negotiate for sure. It is rough. Out of province car, rusty, many panels repainted poorly, missing lots of parts, hacked up wiring, cut up exhaust, poor windshield install, zip ties and self tap screws, leaky rear shocks, coding and dme tune must have been messed up. Could easily spend 10k on it and it would still be in rough shape. Got the feeling the seller was in the car sales business or a curber.

geez the way you explain everything I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole. lol
Used car sales 101 or some seriously fogged over rose-coloured glasses. Akin to the "AC just needs a recharge" schtick.
