this email wasnt work related ( we dont buy cars from craigslist anyways ) so i was already logged into gmail and it just opened a email window without showing which email you are sending it from.

My mistake no doubt.

lol, I also don't understand the dealership hate either.

What if I am going to pay your full asking price?

Having a dealership reach out is the easiest. Don't need to waste too much time with 3rd party inspections, hemming and hawing, uncertain funds.

I always do the research in advance of even reaching out to a private seller. If the condition of the vehicle is as advertised, I go to a bank, get a draft issued, pay the seller and we don't even need to visit Autoplan as I have my own D-plate. Just sign the ownership transfer and be done.

Unfortunately, some people translate their negative dealer interactions with all dealer interactions going forward. Too bad.

If that's how you actually do business you're probably not aware that's not what happens most of the time a seller is contacted by a dealer. Usually they want you to bring it in for them to look at and give you some insultingly low trade in value towards a brand new vehicle you're not even interested in.

Definitely aware of those dealers. They literally have call centers and are just trying to generate appointments for salespeople.

A similar tactic

- "We have a shortage of used cars and need your car! Come in and we can get you into the same car but newer model year for the same payment!"

Catch is that you are extending your credit term for who knows how long and potentially rolling negative equity from your trade. Or

- "We are having a private sale! We have too much inventory and are giving top $ on trade. We have additional incentives to move our current inventory that is not available to the public."

Same thing as above... roll more negative equity into a longer credit term.

So many games dealers play.

The only time that’s ever happened positively was when a friend had an old ranger. Proper rare spec (4wd 4.0L xtra cab etc). Back in ‘05 when he bought it everyone still wanted the ranger but they stopped making it. After a few years they paid him Well above market because the dealership had a customer who wanted that exact spec they sold him years ago and was willing to pay. It happens but it’s rare.

I think we’ve all had the dealerships call us and try to get us in to new model years. I always respond with “oh so you’ll pay me not only what it’s worth, but also depreciation, and get me a better finance rate without extending my finance term?”

“Uhhhhhh.....” is usually what comes out of the other end

Decent price on a Focus ST. It has a few cosmetic mods that suggest it's owned by a young whippersnapper but if it checks out it could be a good deal, ST's around this price are usually rebuilt title.

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/nvn...136019187.html

2013 Ford Focus ST w Sunroof/Nav - $12000 (Lower Lonsdale)

Fully loaded Focus ST single owner in excellent condition with power sunroof, HID headlights, fog lights, full leather interior, touch-screen entertainment system with bluetooth and cleanly modified for video input (including while driving)!

Brand new Pirelli all-season 18" tires on factory rims. Bone stock except for brand-name stainless cat-back exhaust upgrade for improved throttle response and power, but not too loud. Custom white gel ford logos and custom ST logos on wheel hubs, and tinted rear windows plus removable ST vinyl decal on the sides make the car distinctive and unique while maintaining the factory clean appearance. No accidents, no mechanical or electrical problems. Honestly, this car has been excellent to me, but my wage cut during the pandemic has made me need to rethink my finances, hence the reason for the sale. I will seriously miss this car.

Features

2.0L I-4 Engine
6-spd man w/OD Transmission
252 @ 5,500 rpm Horsepower
270 @ 2,500 rpm Torque
front-wheel Drive type
ABS and driveline Traction control
18" silver aluminum Wheels
front air conditioning, manual

keyfob (all doors) Remote keyless entry
front Fog/driving lights
HID xenon headlights
Power glass sunroof
Heated power mirrors
Full Leather Interior
Sony 10 speaker amplified stereo with subwoofer

It’s a great price. When the RS was announced they plummeted to ~19k but 4 years later if you look on CL they’re on average still asking 19k. I already sent this link to a friend yesterday for a fun car.

Honestly where is bic-baws. Only 12k leaves a lot of headroom for fantastic mods

Yeah, I was suggesting an ST to him too, but if he doesn't want FWD then it doesn't matter and I think we have to respect that.

I hated FWD so much it took me 23 years after I started driving to buy one, and half the reason why I like it is because it makes me appreciate my other car so much more.

this guy is selling like 50 different sets of wheels/rims for bmw apparently none are replicas, he also offers coding and other bmw service/maintenance...... just type in "abbey ridge" in craigslist search.

"adjusting" the odometer/mileage shouldn't be too hard with the type of software he has.......

Guaranteed no amount of CX-3 air fresheners going to get the cigarette smoke stench out of that interior.
More curious about that Stagea in the back.

Do any BMW dealers/shops offer tire storage? They might want to double check all the sets are still back there.

Ok WOW. Small bumpers, 16v, RMs. I know it's an old Jetta and they aren't supposed to be expensive, but at $5500 there's gotta be a catch. If not, thats the ultimate young car enthusiast pick up, or the old guy trying to relive his high school dubber days.
