Ya, I always figured if the occupant's heads don't clear the headrest it should be fine, no?

As long as the seatbelts don't let you slip out of it when you roll it I guess. But if you're rolling a miata, I'd chance my head with the bar than pavement.

Looks like a really well maintained car but very pricey. Also that roll cage looks extremely dangerous in an accident.
This is... quite expensive, no? The mileage is quite low, but I've seen MSM's with moderate mileage for that price range. This is into NC1 territory too, though I know not everyone wants an NC.

Racing seats don't make the bar more safe, and a bar doesn't make stock seats unsafe.

As beautiful as roll bars are, I prefer having them covered up with FIA-approved roll bar padding.

You know... just because I'd rather not have a cracked skull if my head bangs into it during an accident.

The ad is gone but how is it less safe and what do seats fix? If you roll the car you'd have a worse time without the bar methinks.

I think a "racing" seat with proper belts would hold u in the seat so if you roll it. Youwon't slip out of it unlike regular seat/belt and smash your head against the bar. But I think I would still take the bar over no bar in a meat, even with stock seats. As long as it's not at some retarded height where your head hits it if you get read ended.

Not every collision results in a rollover, rather the opposite, the vast majority of collisions on public roads are not rollovers. Take a look at the top of the seat back on the stock Miata seat, it sits below the rollbar. In a front or rear impact there can be enough whiplash that the back of the occupants head smacks into the rollbar with unpleasant consequences.

The back of a racing seat sits higher and is between the roll bar and the occupants head and the seat back/base is one piece and flexes less. Additionally, on a track the occupants(s) wear helmets and roll bar padding is required (at least in SCCA and Spec Miata). In a high energy rollover collision like one might encounter at a track, one has a roll bar in conjunction with racing seats (and maybe a 5 point racing harness), helmets, and roll bar padding, now your roll bar is making you safer.

Yes there are some scenarios on the road where a rollbar might provide a benefit in a rollover collision but there are way more collision scenarios where the roll bar isn't going to help and in fact may hurt.

I dunno, I looked at the ad for that Miata and nothing in the ad pointed to a car that has been modded for track use. Yes, the owner could have un-modded it, but if one's going to do that, pull the rollbar as well to sell it, there's always someone looking to make their Miata more safe....

Makes sense, I'm used to seeing the roll bars that are about the same height as the top of the seat so you wouldn't be able to contact it. I'm also short so the idea of the head being higher than the top of the headrest is foreign to me

Used to do that sometimes when I worked at a dealership back in the day. But yea, probably an exaggeration in any case.

Those headlights are hazy AF, and the interior looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in yea, a year. This model has aged pretty well imo though, one of my favourites from Infiniti

^ waxing that often probably does more harm then good. Why risk polishing off your clear coat when good wax easily lasts a few months.

"waxed weekly" is the same type of claim as "never driven in rain".

... Take it with a grain of salt.
