Good luck!

Boston Green crew, represent!

Says it has ST coilovers. Should be able to easily adjust higher to stock-ish height.

heard from the owner but I can't make the meet up time. I suspect it will sell to the first person who sees it. I really hope somebody here gets it. Hell, I'll buy the supercharged setup if somebody just wants a clean NA car

I think I would be tempted by the 996 if it wasn't for the fried eggs. I can't stand the fried eggs.

EP3's are love it or hate it.

Teriyaki 10-04-2020 08:02 PM

Was in the Meh camp for EP3, but as it ages its sort of growing on me. Weird

The Producer 10-04-2020 09:42 PM

my brother goes through cars like underwear. prob his longest running daily was an ep3. it did everything really well for a daily driver. fuel economy, peppy, easy to park, comfortable, cargo space. it's a JDM GTI. I thought it was pretty fun to drive too. He would admit that his mistake was he started to mod it. It was a pain to lower, aftermarket exhaust made it a heatscore and the tuning he did (i think it was kpro) made it less driveable. Buy one - keep it stock.

fliptuner 10-05-2020 12:04 AM

The steering geometry is pretty bad, stock. Lowering it without taking extra steps, just makes it worse.

I think it's pretty cool that it's assembled in England and easy to upgrade the drivetrain, since it's essentially a base RSX.

trollface 10-05-2020 06:46 AM

Assembled in england is a good thing?

tofu1413 10-05-2020 07:50 AM

drove a stock EP3 home as a demo before. had factory HFP kit on it.

it was great fun. super fun to toss around. squeals tires. seemed pretty roomy inside and the shifter was nice to use.

I think they're quite under rated. some of those EP3 civics could be had for under 4k. EK hatch backs nowadays are over 3k for a decent shell......... makes the EP3 a great bang for the buck honda hatch if you dont mind its looks and stupid suspension layout.

tegra7 10-05-2020 08:29 AM

EP3 has been on my radar as they are cheap and a more powerful k20 can be dropped right in without any fab work.

It's a little more complicated than that. A friend dropped an RSX-S engine into one before, and I remember him saying that there is some sort of electrical upgrade that needs to happen as well for it to be 100% trouble-free.

With the pre-facelifted cars, I also think the stock brakes are too weak. The facelifted cars with the 5-lug switch comes with better brakes (taken out of the RSX), but I have never driven one of those facelifted cars before.

this is why my brother did the kpro conversion on his, so that it would be tune capable for the K swap. We got as far as having one in the corner of the garage on a pallet, but he sold the car.

The 5 bolt cars are more desirable - especially if you can find one w the factory bodykit. I can't remember why lowering sucked so much.

Still think they are great little dailys though - at that's coming from a die hard euro car guy

tofu1413 10-05-2020 10:49 AM

^ it is a euro build though! haha hence some love from euro guy

Lol somebody watched SNL this weekend.

Traum 10-05-2020 11:35 AM

The rear suspension design on the the EP3 / RSX is also very poor, although I no longer remember exactly why that was the case. In the competitive motorsports world, the generally accepted solution is to keep the rear spring rates as high as you can / tolerable, and keep the rear suspension from moving around too much.

SkunkWorks 10-05-2020 11:42 AM

Decent price on a clean looking 3.2 G50 Targa. Get a set of Fuchs and you're good to go.
