Yeah, that came around after people started k-swapping MR2's. The J is similar to the Toyota motor, but even cheaper, more plentiful and have more of an aftermarket. I wouldn't say it's a common swap though.

Supercharged xterra for $775. Says it’s mechanically fine other than little things, and the bodywork that’s needed looks very minimal if you’re looking for a project 4x4 (gonna get damaged anyways). Looks pretty well kept

That has to be a typo or fake or the body is more fucked than shown. Even if the trans cooler in the rad blew up I'd think it's worth more than $775.

Not an issue with the first gen Xterra, but yeah. The SE specific wheels and BFG tires alone are at least a grand !
