Ugh. Tempted. I wonder why he only used a 4.8 with the truck intake, when he could've shoved a 6.0 in there with an LS intake. E39 is my favourite bodystyle.

Yep, facelifted models ~2010-2011 are the ones to get. Even then, I'd prefer the '05-06 LS430 since it has that classic look and supposedly better reliability.

Probably just wanted to do it cheap with a junkyard pullout, can always upgrade later. If he was going to turbo it the displacement and truck intake wouldn't matter so much.

2014 Porsche 981 Cayman (base)
73k km
PDK
$39.8k asking

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/...a/19_11682229_

One owner car with no accident and full service records at Porsche Victoria. I'd say this is as good as deal as it would get right now for a 981 (base) Cayman. The 981 generation has proven to be very reliable except for a small handful of known and annoying issues.

Personally, I'd prefer this over a 987.2 car, and some of the 987.2 owners think their unicorn is worth its weight in gold (asking for more than what this one is asking for). The only thing I don't like about this one is the light / white coloured interior because I know I'll make a mess of it in no time.

Why are all the sweet deals over on the Island???

snowfarmer 10-26-2020 11:54 AM

These are the types of gambles I like taking, the crappy no pics no details ads, sometimes it's because the car is just that bad and going to see it is a total waste of time. Other times it's the seller not really knowing much about how to market their used vehicle properly and it flies under the radar. I've picked up a couple of cars that ended up being great deals because the ad was rubbish and wasted a few trips to look at cars that were rubbish.

I would have some serious explaining to do to Mrs. Snowfarmer if I bought this car. Currently I need to cull the fleet a little but this is the sort of deal on a convertible summer car I look for.

90s Japanese Sedans :fuckyea:

Too Long ; Didn't click

J30: A bit ricey but I need a cruising buddy :okay:

Lexus: 90s gold :sweetjesus:

Cressida: Higher priced but STOCK with 0.01% rusty

929: Cheap bucket list car. I think the odo says 300K but ehh for $2k, at least you can say you owned one

^ I still hate myself for selling my 98 LS400. Such a good car and only 95,000km. I have a 1998 S320 now and honestly as much as I'm a Merc guy the LS400 was nicer to drive.

twitchyzero 10-26-2020 11:21 PM

as cool as those 80s bubble cars are they just remind me of gs8's thread

the mazda and infiniti has not aged good

i'd probably only give the cressida a serious look even if it's 2x the cost of the other ones

Absolutely true. I have been driving a 92 LS400 daily for almost 2 yrs. Love it!

How's the gas on the LS 400 V8 as a daily? I usually don't mind paying V8 mpg but it feels weird to not have any power / tq that comes with it.

The white interior is fine. I have the Silverstone(white) interior on my BMW and it's fine.

Outside of a Camry or Corolla I don’t think you can buy a 20 year old vehicle and expect reliability. Especially when talking about luxury German vehicles.. lol

Yah, this.

For the AMG SUV, I'd be thinking, how much can I sell it for after using it for the winter season, will I break even or will I take a huge loss. I think you can probably get that value back or close with this one.

TouringTeg 10-27-2020 01:01 PM

Ls400 all day. I had a 92 Mazda 929 same color. Failed rear window regulators, many dash warning lights including tail light out warning that would never go away. Ride is not good. I would not recommend a 929 to anyone.

2004 White Toyota Coupe
No serious problems
I bought this car and drove it for a year, and I normally drive this car to auto body shop at least once a month to check the safety situation.

Calling BS on the going to a body shop to check for safety every single month. Who TF would do that, and a body shop at that? You getting in an accident every month or smth?

Willing to bet this has never been in the shop. Once in the last month at best which told them of a issue they don't wanna fix.
