Do you know if they are still in business?

No, they've been gone for many many many years. I believe he lives out by Salmon Arm now.

This is a total GS8 post, but man... this thing is basically brand new for the money... could last you 20 years of easy, easy riding :D It's beautiful!

Given what people pay for reject/retired police cars ($5,000+)... it's a deal:

I always wondered if Applewood was importing accident repaired vehicles and selling them for mark up. I’d honestly like to know since some of their imports look nice but I still wouldn’t buy from them.

Can't remember specifics but there were a bunch of FB posts earlier this year of Applewood or one of its affiliates scamming a guy.

Believe it was posted in that Valley car club FB group concerning a R34?

They, along with Velocity, typically only sell R grade junk anyway so it's no surprise...

westopher 12-02-2020 06:46 AM

But I thought it’s alllll gooood at apppllleeewooood

Unless they supply an auction sheet, assume it's R grade with a ton of red flags. This goes for any "importer". If you really want an import you're best being patient and working with a real importer to get exactly what you want direct from auction and shipped to you.

Applewoods whole bit seems to be exploiting people with poor impulse control into cars they can't afford at horrible interest rates. Like charging a premium for low grade imports or offering financing on private car sales like they do all the time (who tf thinks that's a good idea?).

SpuGen 12-02-2020 07:26 AM

Key is being able to finance in house.

It will always be easier and cheaper to just source and buy it yourself.
But people have poor impulse control and need that flex now, not 3 months from now.

Yeah dude that got scammed is a buddy of mine.

Applewood always offers Lifetime warranty on Engine etc, but I wonder what's the terms & conditions.

Limited to the driveway it was sold on.

68style 12-02-2020 09:41 AM

The guy who does the importing at Applewood claims he gets called regularly by ICBC to give valuations on rare JDM cars when they are in accidents and makes it like he does the car community so many favours... looks like a total douchebag with his tattoos and skinny ass jeans.

westopher 12-02-2020 10:08 AM

Honestly he does seem to do a lot of things for the community. I don’t think people always need to be shouting it from the rooftops, but maybe he does if people think he’s a douche because of his tattoos and his pants?:derp:

toyota86 12-02-2020 10:40 AM

Everyone who knows about importing and jdm cars knows applewood is shady.
Everyone who knows about vehicle financing knows applewood is shady.
Everyone who knows about mechanicals and bodywork knows applewood is shady.
Everyone who knows about aftermarket warranties knows applewood is shady.
Everyone who knows about used car dealership models knows applewood is shady.

trollface 12-03-2020 06:53 AM

Post your fit below and I will tell you what APR you're gonna offer me on a R32.

68style 12-03-2020 10:00 AM

Any dealership that masks it’s true purpose with a brand name is shady af

Applewood Kia is one, they don’t give a shit about selling any Kia vehicles it’s just a front to make them look more legitimate.

The “Mitsubishi” dealership on Clark Dr is another... nobody buys Mitsubishi’s anymore it’s just a front for flipping high end used cars with shady history and looking much more legitimate than “Clark Dr Luxury Cars” or some other name.

He organizes a few charity things here and there I’ll give him that, but besides that he has the admins ears / is an admin himself, so you don’t see the stuff behind the scenes where anyone who says anything against him gets booted out of the groups and posts/comments get deleted.

underscore 12-03-2020 10:11 AM

They also pretended to have an Altezza giveaway to get a bunch of fake reviews.

Those Applewood Nissans need a lifetime warranty for them CVTs more than anything else :suspicious:

I was looking at a Mazda at the Richmond Auto Mall and decided to cross shop at Applewood Nissan. After going for a test drive, the salesman kept wanting me to put down an offer right away. I said I wasn't interested because the car was shit in every single way.

He kept on insisting I put in an offer so it "looks good" to his manager. He handed me this piece of paper with OFFER written on the top and reassured me it wasn't a real offer showing my intent. I asked him multiple times what the MSRP was and he refused to tell me. I offered him $1 before he went to grab his manager to find out. Fuck Applewood.

Sounds like good Youtube content lol "applewood exposed"

I should go waste their time

tofu1413 12-03-2020 10:54 AM

Pressure sales tactics.

I went to their Nissan to ask about a clear coat defect on the wing of my old GTR and was swarmed by 3 of their sales staff as I was walking to the service door.

it was scary. the real annoying bit was first question was if I was here to buy something today. like now today.

it felt greasy if not worse than most of the local Dodge Chrysler stores.
