Aren’t they fwd in that era though? If that one didn’t have the two claims I’m sure some idiot would pay way too much on bat in hopes of retiring off of the 5k he’d make off of storing it for 10 years

Big bucks... but no mileage. wonder if BAT worthy

That one has been for sale for ages now. That big an ask is going to make it tough to find a local buyer. Given the mileage the price isn't that crazy, but still tough to swallow.

They're still mid engine/rear wheel drive and a blast to drive on a twisty road. I've never heard of this clutchless manual thing before though. That's a lot of money too, considering a friend of mine struggled to get $5k for a mint JDM one.

twitchyzero 12-15-2020 06:49 PM

damn didnt realize they were worth so little compared to cappucino/beat/az1

ahaha this 6 series was parked at a Chinese restaurant that I frequently visit in Port Moody for years and years. I actually asked one of the staffs there about the car just cuz i was curious and they said it was the landlords. I noticed recently when i went the car disappeared. Explains the low k's and the new battery

FWIW, it's not actually clutchless. It's an automated clutch and there is no clutch pedal.

Toyota now offers a five-speed manual in the MR2 Spyder that you shift using buttons on the steering wheel or by bumping the transmission selector on the center console, and without depressing a clutch pedal. Both controls initiate a sequence in which the throttle is closed, the clutch is disengaged, and the shift mechanism is activated. On downshifts—as in Ferrari's $155,000 360 Modena F1—the system provides a blip of power to match engine and transmission speeds for seamless events.

They can call it whatever they want, it's a piece of shit transmission and that person is dreaming if they think they're going to sell it for $18k... hence why it's been on CL for over a year now

No price but super clean and perfect for SRT4 swap

The PLASTIC?!?! is still on in the rear cabin??? :ahwow:

or is that some obsessive preservation technique?

GIZZ 12-16-2020 06:25 PM

For a Honda/Acura, the RL is too complicated. Replacement parts when were available would cost a fortune(for a honda), now basically anything unique to that car if needed is likely obsolete.

I would steer clear of that car.

TouringTeg 12-16-2020 06:53 PM

That’s a good point. I still miss my 2000 RL.

IIRC they were fraught with electrical issues. From what I'd heard at least.
Beautiful cars though. Timeless design.

twitchyzero 12-16-2020 09:55 PM

would probably still buy that over any new acura that's turbo everything
v6 awd with a plushy interior and an exterior that aged good

JDMDreams 12-17-2020 07:01 AM

I asked my mechanic about that gen RL, and he said just get the beak TL with sh awd. I think they are much the same thing, similar power but the TL has newer technology. Apparently size wise inside is similar too?

tofu1413 12-17-2020 07:49 AM

handsome car.

but apparently they have a slew of electrical gremlins. anyone can chime in on this?

!Aznboi128 12-17-2020 09:06 AM

I just remember the video below

Always wanted a big body honda sedan.

$5000 for a 07 M35x isn't bad. Basically, a big body G35 for 5k isn't too bad.

lip is missing and the two front ducts are painted....

wonder if the front end has been fixed at one point.

Hondaracer 12-17-2020 03:38 PM

with the RL if the electrical gremlins weren't known to effect the drive/power train too much, I'd be pretty confident in that car going forward

Yeah pretty good deal if its in good mechanical shape. The oem kit is super rare on a M35x only usually equipped on a M45.

JDMDreams 12-17-2020 09:40 PM

^^ I've always liked the styling not sure about reliability or gas consumption though with the awd

tofu1413 12-18-2020 07:39 AM

essentially a scaled up G35. seemed to be a pretty reliable car from I've seen in the past few years. but they do get neglected at a certain point of ownership seemingly.

AWD based on the GTR's ATTESA-ETS front and rear torque split system. car is usually RWD dominant under most conditions. up to 50% power to the front on slippery surfaces or moving from a standstill. Fuel consumption shouldn't be a huge difference compared to the RWD ver... unlike mercedes's early 4matics or BMW Early X drive cars.

Reliability is great I have owned lots of Infiniti g35,fx35,m35 heavy on gas.
