Can't go wrong either way, but a 997tt is an absolute monster in comparison (on paper anyways.) Not to mention a kid can fit in the back.

I have driven a 997TT and an NA1. Yes, the P-car is monsterous in comparison but power delivery left a bit to be desired. IMO only. Never driven an NA2 but I'd imagine it would feel like a refined NA1. I'm an "H" lover and I'm always looking for something exciting with future collector value. Not saying the 997 wouldn't have that but the H just "does it" for me. It's really just personal preference. "On paper" stuff doesn't really hold too much weight for me when deciding on a vehicle that has existed in the consumer market for a number of years.

Back to the question though, why are NA1's valued so close to NA2's?

I'm going to throw it out there, but I think it might have something to do with why most 911's, except 996's, maintain their value.

For one thing, the NA1's were all over $100K new, and limited production.
Look at JDMland and their NA1's are all fetching a premium, just like the R34 GTR's.

I think you should look again, low mileage stock NA2's are going for $70K USD asking especially if it's an 04 or 05... Some 02's are a bit less

It's got more to do with mileage than year for NSX used sales... They're all the same high prices if they're low mileage and if they are low prices, it means high mileage or tonnes of mods or automatic or combination of the 3.

There's a fair bit of difference between pre-96 and post-96 too, premium to be paid for the 3.2L. I've seen a lot of chespish 1996's available.

Aside from the lexan side windows that's all you'd really need to change assuming it has a working speedo/odo

edit: perhaps your right I thought I saw in the ad that it stated it was insurable, not 100% on that now. :P

edit edit: upon further reading it does say its insurable lol

I don't think they're as close as you think. First of all, the market might be throwing you off.. exclude Canada, since the USD really screws things up around here.

I think this should be fairly accurate.. everything is about condition, so when i give a range, it will be dependent on milage/condition/history/possibly colour
NA1 (91-94) will be 30-40
NA1 (95-96) debatable, they have targa, but no engine update, so are considered slower. should still be around 40-45
NA2 (97-01, engine update) will be mid 50 - 60
NA2 (02+) will be 60 - 75

of course there are always outliers on both sides, like GPW NA1s with super low kms will be worth more, and rebuilt 200k mile NA2s are going to be way less..

Good info freakshow. There is one 2005 NA2 with 30k miles that is pending sale for $60k USD right now on Prime. There is also the same car with 37k miles in FL for $69K USD. Most NA1's on there are above $40K USD. I'm just thinking if I've got $40K to spend on an NA1 I might as well save another $20K-ish or so to get an 02+ NA2 for $60k-ish. It is all relative but I'm still surprised that they are still fairly close.

I'm fearing that when I'm ready to pull the trigger in 2 years they'll all be $80K. haha fuck.

I haven't been following prime since i got my car, but i'm surprised to hear that so many NA1s are selling for over 40k USD. If that's true, then it's probably just a supply issue. Not that many NA2s available = NA1s can sell for more.. and a 30k mile 05 for 60 sounds like a really good deal. the price disparity you're seeing is probably just due to the small sample size.

I love these wagons. I used to have a '86 Cressida wagon.
Rare* 1985 Toyota Cressida wagon*clean and pretty mint

Hate the rims. And the ride hight seems wrong. But a good price it if checks out and they switch the rims out for stockers.
2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG 4dr, Must See, clean unit. 1 year warranty!!!!!

Not a good deal. But an awesome car, that you don't see for sale often. To bad it's only a S52

Not Local (Toronto) I think this is a great deal (even with shipping to the coast) with all that work into it.

It's not another $20k tho... think of the exchange rate there's 12% tax and a duty of 6.1% over the entire amount... so a $65,000 USD NSX imported into Canada will be $92,000 CAD after taxes, duty and import fees. Comparatively, the $40k one will be $55,000 CAD imported. That's a $40k difference man.

If anyone was serious about this, I used to live in Richmond Hill and can probably have a Porsche buddy check it out. Don't waste his time though, you have have to have fully done your duties and are ready to pull the trigger with his final "yup, it's what its advertised as".

I was only comparing USD to USD. No import costs, exchange, etc. Why did I do that you ask? Well, I have US funds that were purchased a while ago at a way better exchange rate and I run all of the import costs through my work. I'm also PST exempt. Technically you are correct though.

Sorry to derail this thread a bit.

From the profile pic, it seems to me that both the front and rear wheel gaps don't look quite right -- the front seems too high, and the rear seems too low.

If nothing is broken, the pic must have been taken with a load in the trunk. But the suspension is definitely something any potential buyer wants to inspect carefully. Besides, at that mileage, the suspension components (shocks and springs), the control arms and bushings, the ball joints, the engine mounts would all need some careful scrutiny and factored into the purchase price.

Well, I think I need to weigh in here. I built that car, , and sold it eight years ago. From the looks of the photos the car has been untouched in those 8 years...except for allowing the dash to go moldy, which pisses me off to no end.

A few things that should be noted, and buyer beware:

1) I had it licensed and insured, and street drove it. Yes it has lexan windows, yes it has a full cage, yes it's just asking for a VI...I never had a problem. Living in Squamish, and not being an idiot on the street, probably helped.
2) The motor when I sold it was a 160hp 5-cylinder 20valve, engine code 7A, that while sounding incredible...does not have 450hp. You can take it all the way to 8,800rpm on that tach. Valves will start to float milliseconds before the rev-limiter cuts in. Buyer from me planned on putting a 20v turbo motor into it, but still...no where near 300hp.
3) Flywheel is a prototype 9lb Fidanza unit, with a standard Sachs clutch unit. It's a bit tricky to drive, but anyone who has some manual experience will be fine.
4) Cage is halo style, and not log-booked. You'll need to cut the front half out and re-weld in a new cage section to make it legal for rally.
5) When I sold the car, it ran well and drove. BUT a bad 3rd gear syncro had finally come apart. I recall there were only 3 gears left, and no reverse, which was part of the reason I finally let the car go.

You know the worst part? I'm so damned tempted to buy it back. Was the first car that I "built". Looking at it again, I can see some of it's influences even in the Rally Bug. I still love the paint (held up well!), and there are so many memories. But it would be such a step in the wrong direction...
