Seems like a pretty good deal at $12k. As a potential buyer I would look close at the rad support to ensure that the JDM front end swap was done correctly.

If any of you guys come across an Astra in your searches let me know if you don't mind, I'm willing to travel a fair bit to get one if needed. It has to be auto, 4/5 door, <150k, <$9000, preferably an XR and preferably blue or red.

It says it needs a clutch, I have no clue what kind of work that entails on a car like that though.

It was posted a few pages back, apparently the price drop is due to too much interest in the car :rukidding:

If the 944 is a no start, probably the fuel pump relay. The cars mechanical aspects are pretty solid and reliable surprisingly... Its just iffy electrics. My old 944 had the fuel pump relay fail twice. That was about it. Other common problem being the clutch slave cylinder constantly going bad.

I may be reading the ad wrong but I don't think the price is actually $3,500 I think they are taking offers at the book value and just put that number to draw attention

Why would anyone buy a generic Honda/Toyota/Chrysler/Ford when you can get so much car for this price.

Because repairs wont cost an arm and a leg.

JesseBlue 12-20-2014 06:08 AM

Going to any dealerships for repair will cost you that plus your first born.... I remember my first pos car (taurus) where the coolant was misting into the cabin (felt like a booby trap for car thieves). Car was worth about a thousand ten years ago...anywho dealer wanted 4grand plus taxes on the repair. It was a painful winter without heat plus the window had to be rolled down

jpark 12-20-2014 06:48 AM

Not necessarily a good deal.
