Speaking about Facebook Marketplace... I hate when you click on an item for sale, and you accidentally click out or for whatever reason the page refreshes, and you can't find the item ever again. Absolute dog sh!t. Happens a lot on mobile.

On mobile, when you click on an item, it opens up a new tab. So when you press back, it just goes to the default marketplace page as the starting point.

Instead, what you want to do is to close the new tab, and voila, the previous page and where you left off will be there, including the listing that you just clicked on.

I got pretty frustrated as well until i realized i had a bunch of tabs opened suddenly after viewing a few listings.

Not a great buy but funny enough that I thought it should be shared.

I hate how the search doesn't show you all the hits. It'll show X amount, then switch to stuff further away. Then all of a sudden when just browsing nothing you'll randomly see a 3 month old ad that should've turned up in the search.

Here's my theory on why FB Marketplace search is such dogshit and CL is so good. It comes down to one simple theory; a for profit enterprise vs. a non-profit enterprise.

CL is non-profit, the URL is Craiglist.org, they just want to make it work well for everyone (buyers and sellers) although some sellers game the search function with keywords and spammy top-posting behaviour. The good thing with CL is that it's easy to filter out that shit.

FB is a for profit (for mega-profit) enterprise, you can pay them to make your ad show up more frequently, so why not make the search algorithm total dogshit for anyone who doesn't pay for more prominent appearance in the listings. The issue is that this punishes buyers by making it harder to find shit they're looking for on FB marketplace as much as it punishes sellers who don't pay FB. The people who are rewarded are the people who are paying FB to take care of the spammy top-posting for them. That's why you're getting so much irrelevant crap show up in your search. The seller of the item irrelevant to your search probably paid FB for their ad to show up more frequently therefore the ad shows up in your search results even though it may only be tangentially related to what you're searching for, you as the item searcher are getting spammed.

So fuck Facebook, and fuck Facebook Marketplace with a giant bag of flaming dildos! I hate that I have to use FB marketplace at all but you guys are right, there is more and more stuff moving from CL to FB Marketplace

I have had opposite experiences with FB marketplace when I recently sold my car (2007 Rav4 if that makes any difference).

I had way more interest from FB than craigslist (probably 10:1), and for quality of requests as well, probably 50% of the respondents were interested.

During COVID I've been buying random old Xbox games via FB marketplace to play through, and have found transactions and communications via FB to be very easy.

Yah the only plus about FB Marketplace is that there is a profile attached to the inquirer and you can trace his/her arse down if anyone tried to scam you ... is that the reason why people go to FB more? Or is there more trust to someone selling with a FB profile?

FB engineers can change the way people think using sophisticated algorithms but can't design a search database better than a Gr 12 HS student .... wut?

This might be a decently good buy.
The only thing is it is a ex-US car, 122K Miles.
Lots of upgrades but it's the mileage that is concerning.
Expect $15K for an engine rebuild if it have bore scoring.

I actually got a thorough PPI done for it before buying it.

Three major issues, with one being critical:

1. Drive belt needed to be replaced. It was wearing out and it was evident.
2. Front driver side shock was blown/leaking
3. CV boot was torn/leaking grease

Engine compression was 175psi across all four cylinders. Other than that, the usual bullshit BMW problems like leaking steering fluid but there's an open class action lawsuit on that.

I was hoping there would be more issues, but sadly that was not the case.

15k PLUS PLUS PLUS

no point in doing it if you're not going to at least semi build it.

normally i scoff at PPI, but I spent the money on mine to look for scoring. 215k kms, still looked great.

30k though - there should be lower mile S's our there for that money, despite the obvious care that has gone into this one. (maybe not tho - porsche $'s are up across the board)

The 987 is going to be the next 993.

People laughed at the 996. Take a look at the going prices for them these days.

I agree with BCR. Look at the available 987's and they are all up. Earlier this year there was that red S with tan interior. It sat for about a month before selling $26K range and now base Gaymans are asking for $28-29 range.
Base 996's are at least $30K so no one's gonna sell their Cayman's cheap.

That silver one on CL for $28,500 was $22,500 a week ago and didn't sell.
