i want this

https://images.craigslist.org/00B0B_...pO_600x450.jpg

always loved the shape

I feel like if I had room to store this I would happily bring it out for the occasional cars and coffee, or a whis run and not much else.

I have no idea who would help me work on it - I guess you'd find an indy that hopefully had some experience. The isuzu motor isn't that exotic - i imagine the toughest part of ownership would be sourcing parts.

I need a hanger...

68style 09-05-2021 03:36 PM

^ Pretty reasonable price too…

I’m trying to manage anywhere between 6-9 cars depending who’s counting, want to share a hangar?

supafamous 09-05-2021 04:45 PM

Seriously, how does one rent out affordable storage space for cars that's not in Abbotsford? I don't need a Jay Leno palace as I ain't storing no McLaren F1s or 918s but there's good odds that if I had the space I'd collect a few cool cars in my retirement in 10 years. I only have a 1 car garage and I'd love to have room for Miata or two and a maybe a couple project cars.

Gas or diesel?

No links to share, but I think these are some good options you should be looking for.

7.3 powerstroke. Slow, indestructible.
Early 2000’s GM gas truck, not a nice truck, but again super reliable. Diesel options too, but I think certain duramax options have their faults.
Not sure if the early tundra’s and Titans are sub 12k.

If you are after a diesel I think your best option is a 7.3 powerstroke.
If you are after a gas truck get a 2000’s GM.

Not completely opposed to just getting an x5 diesel and just getting a trailer either. lol

Im open to anything.
Will pay more for something nicer.
I only require the interior to be clean cause I hate driving in shithole cars.
And towing bikes to track will suck less in a nicer suv.

vitaminG 09-07-2021 07:01 PM

Considering what these are going for stock this is a steal. Must fly with 215 at the wheels

94 rolla SE, with a 5-speed on the floor, no rev counter so you doo everything by feel. You want a clock? Nah you don't get one. Manual window, Manual doors, Manual mirror and no AC.

68style 09-07-2021 07:22 PM

^ What a beaut... nice speed lines on the side too!

Do you even need a truck to tow a couple bikes?! Most regular mid-size/larger family sedans could do that.

Or do you have some huge trailer?

Trackdays are for the boyssss

Will be getting an enclosed so we can stuff the generator, suits, etc etc all in there

Car trackdays are easy since my Z somehow fit everything in, even with the cage.

But. Getting too old for that shit.
I just want to tow in. tow out.
No time wasted packing and unpacking.

K20 candidate

2000 Honda Insight - $2,900
IMA battery dead but drives fine and still gets 70+ MPG

JDMDreams 09-08-2021 09:07 AM

That red one has been selling forever, I recall something about if the hybrid battery is dead, it will also kill the 12v battery? As the ima battery powers hybrid motor to start the car. You are relying on the back up 12v starter to start the car but if the hybrid battery is dead dead it won't charge the 12v. I think you can some how bypass it.

I also looked into k20 swap back in the day but it wasn't cheap you still need to do a bit of custom fab and parts interchanging.

GIZZ 09-08-2021 09:49 AM

It's pretty common to have a bad IMA battery and the IMA motor still charges the small battery, but the problem is theres no alternator. When the IMA motor dies you're done. My bright idea was to install an alternator on one of these, I think it's been done now.

One cold winter day about 4-5 years ago 4 hybrid hondas came in. All were dead to the point where they could not run on the gas engine, each had 1 or more of of bad IMA batteries, IMA motors and DC-DC converters. 1 was towed home, I charged the small battery on one enough that that they could drive home, the other 2 went straight to scrap.

I would be a lot more interested if it was a hatch.

Wrong. The IMA motor charges the 12V system even with the hybrid battery dead - so long as the battery is properly disconnected, the converter still runs as normal.

Cool build. Would probably cost his asking price to buy a stock one and build yourself.

jaaagman 09-10-2021 05:24 PM

In this market, this seems like an awfully good deal for an S2000 with RPF-1's. I feel like this car has been on sale for ages though:

I'm sure the RS eagle eyes will find a flaw somewhere. Is it normal that the front tire gap is visibly larger than the rear?

Traum 09-10-2021 08:43 PM

Part of the tire is under the shadow of the front fender. I can still see it sufficently well on my screen, but I can see how others might miss it if their screen isn't bright enough.

Also, the highest point on the "front fender" is a line that extends acorss the whole length of the car, but the top of the rear fender is below that line. So the front and rear fender "heights" aren't the same.

There's an absurd amount of fender gap on that car. It has nothing to do with shadows. You can definitively see where the fender lip is compared to the top of the sidewall.
That's why upsizing wheels with small sidewalls on stock suspension is big nononono.
It's a set of lowering springs away from looking quite good though.

underscore 09-10-2021 11:14 PM

Look from the top edge of the rim to the bottom edge of the wheel well though. The photo isn't perfectly square but it looks like a big difference when I stick the rear fender gap right next to the front.

https://i.imgur.com/0XRtLJJ.png

Maybe it's just something simple like someone put staggered wheels/tires on the wrong way around or something and that makes it look worse than it is.

2019 honda ruckus for $1875 in Nanaimo. Seems like a good deal. Wonder if they will wave the $495 doc fee.
