From what I've read, the VH45DE are very reliable and had a long shelf life. They are a usual candidate in engine swaps. Like all Infinitis from that era, they were overbuilt and meant to last. Obvously being an old flaghship, some things will go but that's the price to pay in this game but it's best to start with a good candidate. A rusted out high mileage 7 owner car isn't the same as a low mile senior owned, receipt heavy example.

But yeah, still look bitchy to work on :lol

Fun fact: The J30 was available with the optional VH45DE. Japan only though...

It doesn't even look like a good copy of the trd2000gt kit. I saw this and thought it would be cheaper to buy this blue one than put mine back together, but zooming in on the pics I'm not a fan.

I know there are/were 2 local blue widebody SW20s, this may be one. But the price makes me think fake ad.

Did anybody here try to contact the guy?

I spent a few months driving a "well-used" FX45 with the VK45DE. The engine and transmission was very stout and shifted very smoothly. In fact, I would go so far to say that the 5 speed shifted a lot smoother than some cars I've driven recently. I would imagine that powertrain being very brisk in a sedan.

Yes, seems like he speaks very little English and doesn't know shit about the car. I asked to see it and he stopped replying.

I ended up picking up that 1995 SHO... I had seen it before it was posted on this thread, but wanted to submit back to the thread that someone here got something posted here!

Some pics... and the file folder shot that's all the records of every purchase both owners made and every part they put on + instructions of the part... factory Ford manual... and handwritten notes + timelines of servicing... crazy amount of info!!!

Also I filled an entire trailer full of parts including an extra complete SHO engine, NOS Ford parts for the body/lighting... extra set of factory wheels... insane amount of stuff.

What's next, 68style? A Ford Contour SVT? :)

The one on the island is tempting... but he wants too much and it's black... I already had 2 black ones haha

!Aznboi128 09-28-2021 06:18 AM

I would love an SVT contour...

They’re really really underrated cars, beautiful handling response super comfy seats and great sound from the V6… but really let down by the nameplate and some shit parts, they like to eat alternators (and that’s an absolute bitch to change) and fuel pumps (again a bitch to change if you don’t enlarge the access port underneath the back seat). Some questionable fit and finish too… dash warping and rear bumper sag.

Congrats

I would have snagged this if I had room but my J30 is enough quirk for me anyway which funny enough has enough paperwork as your car does. Always wanted a Super HO. That's a solid example. Youtube example I'd argue.

You know, if someone was handy, that's not a bad deal. Apparently pulling the transmission isn't that difficult. I don't know how plentiful or valuable they are though.

Did these ever come in stick? I think they did? Seems like it would be a complete hoot.

Would I be doing it a disservice if I lumped the Altima SE-R in the same camp of car?

Yah they came in stick all through production, I had a red 94 before that was manual… it’s definitely more fun but it was a terrible transmission… a Mazda truck transmission I believe. It did not like to be shifted quickly and the clutch was a real calf burner. I would still prefer the stick to the automatic though.

I think the Altima SE-R is the same idea and actually a much better car, just that the engine isn’t that “special” as it’s the same VQ that went in every Nissan and Infiniti product of that era so it loses mystique on that side of things.

IIRC I think Conan had (or still has) a manual SHO. https://www.thedrive.com/news/19751/...l-transmission

On a side note, does anyone have a gauge on the IS F market? Last one I saw was just under $30k for 130k kms. This one seems to be on the pricey side for the mileage, but I could be wrong:

68style 09-28-2021 07:44 PM

Prices are crazy for IS-F right now... there was a low mileage 2014 on carsandbids the other day sold for basically the MSRP of the brand new one coming out.

I think when the new one is released it will push down prices of the older gen. There's not really anything the older gen has that the IS500 doesnt.

JDMDreams 09-28-2021 08:45 PM

I think you can try to stretch for an used gsf, rcf if you have the budget to spend $40k on a used isf.

Sadly I don'tFeelsBadMan

Its somewhat decent. IIIRC, 2011+ are the years to get since it comes with an LSD and other goodies. GsF and RcF prices have also climbed up pretty high. Theres a pretty decent red RcF for sale atm for around 54k. GsFs are fetching 65-70K and there's hardly ever any for sale locally.

BIC_BAWS 09-28-2021 10:51 PM

2011+ in BC look to be about mid 40s

2010 in Manitoba with lowkms is mid 30s. Looks like a series 2 but don't quote me on that
https://www.autotrader.ca/a/lexus/is...0416153617609/

2012 Ultra Sonic Blue is $51K in Ontario.
https://www.autotrader.ca/a/lexus/is.../19_11880978_/

The only other Ultra Sonic Blue for sale in Canada is 2008, high kms and is still 30K

There was a GSF for sale in Richmond going for 50-60K when COVID lockdowns first hit

Currently the only GS-F for sale in Canada is 78K lol

68style 09-28-2021 11:29 PM

Very accessible classic at a decent asking price, seems like he's probably flexible... nice colour and I've actually never seen one with a hardtop before:

The blue one at Hyundai Richmond? That one was quite banged up in person, but still sold pretty quickly

There was also a white GS-F with like 178K odo that was listed for $38k. Sold within a week...

underscore 09-28-2021 11:38 PM

There's a few 2008 and 2010 ISF's for sale, ranging from 28k to 48k https://www.kijiji.ca/b-cars-trucks/...ceDesc&dc=true

The white 2010 in Victoria with 96k for $36k sounds like a decent deal. The illest decal and GReddy license plate frame might be concerning though.

There's also a blue 2008 with 125k for $39k in Ontario. I assume blue is the most desirable colour?

GSF's there's a black 2016 in Edmonton for $64k or a 2017 in Ontario for $78k.

The Blue one had a pretty interesting story. Spoke to sales about it. Let's just say its been VERY WELL used for the mileage. The white one I think was posted in this thread about 2 years ago and had around 120k. Its actually up for sale now but not on autotrader. I've honestly been trying to find one for the better part of a year now and the pricing has just gotten crazy due to lack of supply.
