I think in the present day world of 15k cars that for the right person this is a deal

I love how OEM this thing looks and I love the kind of seller that buys michys. I'd just find some STI seats for it and be done.

I guess the downside is the mileage, but it's so gone through. As long as the body doesn't show it - who cares?

That does look really cool but:

ENGINE
- Short block is all original

Isn't that a ticking time bomb on an EJ? especially with high mileage

too bad its burgundy.

a two door civic is more money than this thing... and these V6es are pretty bomb proof.

Just get a RON custom plate..

trollface 01-06-2022 03:29 PM

How's everything surrounding said bomb-proof V6?

68style 01-06-2022 03:47 PM

I know one female who has the same coupe, same engine, she is not a car person, she does NO maintenance to it and treats it like absolute shit and it just won't die.

Can't normally say that about a Merc that's for sure.

^actually 90s and 20s Benz are actually quite reliable, compared to other Germans, they do use them as taxis

The motor itself, the twin spark 3v per cylinder 3.2 V6 was an over engineered gem. Minor VC and pan leaks. Most common issue were the primary cats falling apart internally.

The w208 CLK itself was mix of w202 C lass and W210 e class parts bin special, so lots of tried and true parts from a mature design were used on these gen 1 CLKs.

Not perfect cars, but still dependable if it gets looked at once in a blue moon. Parts are not too expensive either.

At $2k it’s helluva lot more interesting than a rusty 92’ Civic with 300k Kms and with some nice German metal, probably safer too.

unless you have abc/airmatic lol

JDMDreams 01-07-2022 10:15 AM

ABC air matic can be fixed by just swapping in traditional coil and shock or spend $1000 on a set of bc racing la. Let's say $2000 to replace your suspension that will last you another 10+ years isn't too bad. It's if you want to stay with ABC or air matic that is more $$ but then you do get the benefits of hydraulic or air suspension. Well all new cars pretty much are on air anyways :accepted::pokerface:

The mileage is definitely low, but Im not sure if this is a good price. One thing to look out for on these cars are dead HDD's. Once they go, the infotainment will no longer be usable if you battery ever goes flat. I believe it has something to do with the OS being stored in non-persistent memory. Replacement HDD's are also hella expensive or hard to source. This issue is only present in the LS infotainment system and not the IS or GS of the same generation.

That's good to know - I have a soft spot for that generation LS and wasn't aware of this issue. As for price, I feel all these inflated prices going around are affecting what I perceive to be good value.

There is also the issue of brake actuator and control arm bushings. Both jobs are at least $1500 each with an indie shop. Issues were fixed for 09+
