Might as well go all out and pay a bit more for a GSF.

whitev70r 01-31-2022 08:40 AM

Or either of the following if you were going to drop $60K

If that IS-F was a 2011+ with both the limited slip and the LF-A style gauge cluster when they were super limited production, he might be in the ballpark… but a 2008??? Get the fuck outta here…

westopher 01-31-2022 09:23 AM

That 997 has been taunting me to get rid of the e30 for a while.

What is wrong with that 997?
It's been for sale for way over a month. I'm thinking closer to half year if not more.

westopher 01-31-2022 11:39 AM

Probably needs a 20k brake job. Ceramics are no bueno. It had been overpriced for a long time too, although now prices have caught up.
Early 997s are plagued by big money issues on top of that. IMS is done which is a huge plus, but bore scoring was a big problem. Maybe people who are looking to buy are scoping it and not happy with what they see.

bcrdukes 01-31-2022 11:44 AM

Ditto on that. Bore scoring and the PCCB brakes (while cool) are a real turn off. Unless this is your dedicated track rat or a garage / living room ornament , this is a not a great buy. You'll have to pony up or have a nice fat reserve fund for 997 repairs and a separate budget for boxes of Kleenex for heart breaking moments.

While I'm going against the grain, IMS updates are less of a concern for me than say bore scoring on these early models. If I see another 996/997 that had a healthy record of oil changes and the mileage is higher, i'd skip the IMS stuff altogether. Jake Raby and Charles Navarro got rich off of the fear mongering (my own opinion.)

100% this

still - it's worth the 5-600 bucks to PPI any porsche. Weissach will include scoping the cylinders for that money.

that 997 has been for sale for at least a year. the money has actually gone up. interesting sales tactic. Same for the 996 turbo that gets bumped on CL twice a day at 99k.

Selling cars isn't hard. Determine the market price. Ask the market price. Car sells.

If you get BAT price for your e30 ... you'd have more than enough to do the brakes for $20K and still pocket like $30K :lol

westopher 01-31-2022 12:44 PM

Lol I don’t have enough friends to shill bid to get those absurd numbers.

68style 01-31-2022 01:02 PM

I cannot believe how big BAT has become… used to be like a morning browse see some cool project cars or maybe a car I’ve never seen before..

Now there’s 550+ concurrent auctions at any given moment. It’s insane how much money is changing hands on that site.

trollface 01-31-2022 01:03 PM

I'll have access to the internet and a computer. I will shill bid for you in return for a Wendy's Gift Card.

68style 01-31-2022 01:38 PM

Imagine what your Datsun would sell for on there…

I was selling my dads 1995 MR2 Turbo and BAT approved it, I was getting ready to hire a photographer and post it… but being in Canada really kills values (it shouldn’t, the import process takes like 30 minutes and costs nothing) but ended up selling it off Craigslist to a guy in Montana for $24,000USD… probably could have for more from BAT if it was already imported there but fuck it, such a hassle and dealing with the commenters is a headache I didn’t want either.

JDMDreams 01-31-2022 01:56 PM

There's a new one I think in Canada? Formula auctions? I see guys post up cars on CL linked to that.

SkunkWorks 01-31-2022 02:57 PM

Lol there's a billion bat copycats now. Another Canadian-based one was rally auto auctions where half the cars listed are the site's owner's and shill bid to oblivion as he posted current pics of the cars on his personal FB months after they were allegedly "sold".

BAT, collecting cars, and cars n bids are the only ones worth listing with. Pcarmarket is shady af and I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole.

Any Canadian one is going to be laughable, there’s no market up here we’re a bunch of brokeass fuckers in a small (population) country hahaha… I listed my MR2 for sale in Canada for less than it sold for in USA and all I got were “Did you accidentally add a zero?” type messages. But it sold in a couple days in USA.

All is takes is a good group of friends to sell their cars to one another. Sounds weird :ahwow: but it happens quite often here in Ontario and people often wonder how/how so many owners showed up on the UVIP in such short periods of time. It takes a lot of trust to do that. I'd give my left nut to 68style. He can have any of my cars anytime any day. :hotbaby:

bcrdukes 01-31-2022 06:29 PM

Wut

jaaagman 01-31-2022 07:58 PM

Might as well get an IS 500...

68style 01-31-2022 08:11 PM

Wut ?? Hahaha

The Producer 01-31-2022 08:53 PM

that kind of comes back to my car trading website idea

try to link up enthusiasts that just want to try other cars

save a pile of tax. try new stuff.

westopher 01-31-2022 09:07 PM

Should start an RS car trade thread. There’s lots of shit on here I wanna drive and I’m totally willing to disappoint people with my e30 to make that happen.
